Indications

Argento Proteinato Sella is an antiseptic in nasal drops.

Composition

Active ingredients

Argento Proteinato Sella adults 2% nasal and ear drops, solution. 100 g of solution contains: Active ingredient: silver proteinate 2 g.

Excipients

Purified water, dibasic sodium phosphate, monobasic potassium phosphate, imidurea.

Directions for use and Dosage

Adults and children: Administer 1–2 drops in each nostril or in the ear canal 2–3 times a day.

Warnings

Avoid concomitant use with papain-based products.
Follow the recommended doses and instructions for use.
Silver proteinate, if accidentally ingested or if used for a long time at excessive doses, can cause toxicity.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to the active ingredient or to any of the excipients.

Interactions

The silver proteinate solution may interact with papain-based products.
Papain is a proteolytic enzyme, belonging to the hydrolase class, which is extracted from the immature papaya fruit (Carica papaya).
Concomitant use of silver proteinate and papain may inhibit the enzymatic action of papain.

Undesirable effects

Skin and subcutaneous tissue disorders: Dermatitis, Rash, Burning, Skin irritation, Skin discoloration, Hypersensitivity reactions, Argyria.

Overdose

In case of overdose, elevated silver concentrations in plasma and skin discoloration may occur.
In addition, systemic symptoms such as hepatotoxicity, cardiomyopathy, amnesia, and slurred speech may occur.
Prolonged daily ingestion of silver proteinate may cause serious side effects. cause irreversible neurotoxicity, with myoclonic status epilepticus, leading to coma and, ultimately, death.
Accumulation of silver in the skin, mucous membranes, membranes, and eyes, due to ingestion or absorption of even small amounts, can lead to the onset of argyria.
Argyria is characterized by a gray to dark blue coloration of the skin, due to the binding of silver to various proteins and the consequent production of pigments.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

Pregnancy: There are no adequate data regarding the use of silver proteinate in pregnant women. Silver proteinate should not be used during pregnancy unless clearly necessary. Breastfeeding: There are no adequate data regarding the use of silver proteinate during breastfeeding.
Silver proteinate should not be used during breastfeeding unless absolutely necessary.
