Oral Suspension

Composition:

100 ml of suspension contain: Active ingredient: cloperastine fendizoate mg 708 (equivalent to cloperastine hydrochloride mg 400) Excipients: • xanthan gum g 0.200 • polyoxyethylene stearate g 0.1 • xylitol g 20 • methyl p-hydroxybenzoate g 0.122 • propyl p-hydroxybenzoate g 0.018 • banana flavouring g 0.03 • deionised water to taste. 100 ml

Therapeutic indications

Cough sedative.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to one of the product's components.

Dosage

Adults: 5 ml three times a day. Children: • between 2 and 4 years: 2 ml twice a day; • between 4 and 7 years: 3 ml twice a day; • between 7 and 15 years: 5 ml twice a day. The package includes a 2-3-5 ml measuring cup.

Warnings and precautions

Keep out of reach of children. The doctor should advise the patient to read the package leaflet carefully. Do not dispose of the bottle in the environment after use.

Interactions

Concomitant use of sedatives or antihistamines may enhance the side effects of the drug.

Side effects

At higher doses, dry mouth and mild drowsiness have been reported, which however disappear rapidly by reducing the dose.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

Although toxicity studies carried out during pregnancy in animals have not shown teratogenic activity or fetal toxicity, it is good practice to avoid taking the drug in the first months of pregnancy and in the subsequent period only in case of real need under the direct supervision of a doctor.
