Product Description

Gel for cleansing chronic wounds based on Polihexanide (PHMB) and Propyl-Betaine.

It helps reduce the formation of bacterial biofilm by breaking down the mucopolysaccharide matrix synthesized by the bacterial colonies present on the wound bed. The density of the gel formulation allows for a reasonable stability in the wound bed; Prontosan® Wound Gel therefore helps maintain the right moist environment.

Characteristics

• The cationic surfactant (Undecylene-amidopropyl-betaine) contained in Prontosan® Wound Gel breaks down the bacterial biofilm and cleanses the wound.
• Hydroxyethyl-cellulose gives Prontosan® Wound Gel has the right viscosity to keep the product adhered to the wound bed.
• Glycerol helps maintain a moist environment by hydrating the wound.
• Polyaminopropyl-biguanide allows the solution to remain stable for 8 weeks after opening the bottle.

Indications

Cleansing and hydrating:

• Pressure sores
• Vascular lesions (arterial, venous, mixed)
• Diabetic foot
• Fistulas
• Burns (Prontosan® Wound Gel is particularly indicated in case of burns as it helps maintain bacterial colonization at low levels, keeps the wound hydrated and minimizes trauma when changing the dressing, considerably reducing pain and the consequent need for therapy analgesic support, thus increasing patient compliance).
