Paracetamol Effervescent Tablets

Composition

One effervescent tablet contains: active ingredient: paracetamol 500 mg

Excipients

Anhydrous citric acid, Sodium bicarbonate, Sorbitol, Sodium saccharinate, Sucrose monopalmitate, Polyvinylpyrrolidone, Orange flavor.

Therapeutic indications

Symptomatic treatment of acute painful conditions (headache, neuralgia, toothache, menstrual pain) and feverish conditions.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the excipients. Children under 7 years of age. Paracetamol-based products are contraindicated in patients with severe hemolytic anemia. Severe hepatocellular insufficiency.

Dosage

Adults: 1-2 tablets. This dose can be administered up to 3-4 times a day. Children: In children aged 7 to 12 years, the product should be administered only upon prescription and under medical supervision. Elderly patients: the dosage must be carefully established by the doctor who will evaluate a possible reduction of the dosages indicated above. Do not administer for more than 3 consecutive days without consulting your doctor. Do not exceed the recommended dose. The medicine should be taken on a full stomach. Dissolve the effervescent tablet in a glass containing a little water, stirring as needed with a teaspoon.

Warnings and precautions

High or prolonged doses of paracetamol-based products can cause high-risk liver disease and even serious kidney and blood changes. Paracetamol can cause hepatotoxic and nephrotoxic effects. Administer with caution in patients with renal or hepatic insufficiency. Use with caution in patients with glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency. During treatment with paracetamol, before taking any other medication, check that it does not contain the same active ingredient, as serious adverse reactions may occur if paracetamol is taken in high doses. Instruct the patient to contact the doctor before combining any other medication. See also the section "Interactions". In rare cases of allergic reactions, administration should be suspended.

Interactions

The use of the product is not recommended if the patient is being treated with anti-inflammatory drugs. During therapy with oral anticoagulants, it is advisable to reduce the doses. Use with extreme caution and under close supervision during chronic treatment with drugs that can cause the induction of hepatic monooxygenases or in case of exposure to substances that can have this effect (for example, rifampicin, cimetidine, antiepileptics such as glutethimide, phenobarbital, carbamazepine). The administration of paracetamol may interfere with the determination of uric acid levels (using the phosphotungstic acid method) and blood glucose levels (using the glucose-oxidase-peroxidase method).

Undesirable effects

Skin reactions of various types and severity have been reported with the use of paracetamol, including cases of erythema multiforme, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, and epidermal necrolysis. Hypersensitivity reactions such as angioedema, laryngeal edema, and anaphylactic shock have been reported. Furthermore, the following side effects have been reported: thrombocytopenia, leukopenia, anemia, agranulocytosis, liver function disorders and hepatitis, renal disorders (acute renal failure, interstitial nephritis, hematuria, anuria), gastrointestinal reactions, and dizziness.

During pregnancy and breastfeeding, administer the product only if necessary and under the direct supervision of a doctor.
