Indications

Pirobec is useful in cases of painful and inflammatory conditions of a rheumatic or traumatic nature of the joints, muscles, tendons and ligaments.

Composition

Active ingredients

100 g of skin foam contain 1 g of piroxicam.

Functional excipients: propylene glycol, methyl p-hydroxybenzoate, propyl p-hydroxybenzoate

Excipients

Pirobec 10 mg/g skin foam: propylene glycol; polysorbate 80; xanthan gum; menthol; methyl p-hydroxybenzoate; propyl p-hydroxybenzoate; citric acid monohydrate; sodium hydroxide drops; titanium dioxide; ethanol 96%; purified water.

Propellant: propane-butane isobutane.

Directions for use and Dosage

Adults: apply PIROBEC 10 mg/g foam 2-3 times a day, massaging gently to promote absorption.

Paediatric population: the safety and efficacy of PIROBEC 10 mg/g cutaneous foam in paediatric age have not yet been established. No data are available.

Warnings

The amount of active ingredient absorbed through the skin does not normally reach concentrations in circulation sufficient to validate the warnings and expose to the risk of side effects related to systemic administration of the drug.

The application of products for topical use, especially if prolonged, can give rise to sensitization phenomena. In the presence of hypersensitivity reactions, treatment should be discontinued and appropriate therapy instituted.

Patients with asthma, chronic obstructive bronchitis, allergic rhinitis or inflammation of the nasal mucosa (nasal polyp) react with asthma attacks, local inflammation of the skin or mucosa (Quincke's edema) or urticaria to antirheumatic treatment carried out with more effective NSAIDs. often other patients.

The  parahydroxybenzoatespresent as excipients in the skin foam can cause allergic reactions (possibly delayed). The  propylene glycolpresent as an excipient in the skin foam can cause skin irritation.

Do not expose to temperatures above 50°C. C. The pressurized container must not be punctured, it must not be placed near heat sources or direct sunlight, even when empty, and it must not be frozen.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the excipients.

Undesirable effects

Use of the product, especially if prolonged, may give rise to sensitization and local irritation. Rarely, immediate reactions with urticaria and bronchospasm. In this case, treatment should be discontinued.

The following dermatological side effects have also been reported with topical use of piroxicam: contact dermatitis, eczema, and photosensitivity skin reactions.

Interactions

Based on bioavailability studies, it is extremely unlikely that piroxicam foam displaces other drugs bound to plasma proteins.

However, physicians should monitor patients treated with PIROBEC 10 mg/g foam and highly protein-bound drugs for possible dosage adjustments.

Overdose

No cases of overdose have been reported in the literature to date.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

As a precaution, its use is not recommended during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Any use is permitted only upon doctor's advice, if deemed absolutely necessary.
