Product Description

Nasal Spray

Composition:

100 ml of product contain: Active ingredient: Oxymetazoline hydrochloride 0.050 g. One spray corresponds to 0.1 ml of solution and contains 0.05 mg of oxymetazoline. For the full list of excipients, see section 6. 6.1.

Excipients

Sorbitol, Potassium dihydrogen phosphate, Disodium phosphate anhydrous, Chlorhexidine diacetate, Purified water.

Therapeutic indications

Nasal mucosa decongestant (clears a stuffy nose), especially in case of colds.

Contraindications

Known hypersensitivity to oxymetazoline or other components of the product, prostatic hypertrophy, heart disease and severe arterial hypertension. Glaucoma, hyperthyroidism. Do not administer during and within two weeks of treatment with antidepressant drugs. The drug is contraindicated in children under 12 years of age.

Dosage

Adults and children over twelve years of age: One spray in each nostril every 6 - 12 weeks. 12 hours, if necessary. Do not exceed 4 days of treatment unless otherwise directed by your doctor. To use, remove the plastic cap, insert the tip of the bottle into your nostril and press quickly and firmly, breathing deeply through your nose. Do not exceed the recommended dose.

Warnings and Precautions

In patients with cardiovascular disease, especially those with hypertension, the use of nasal decongestants should always be subject to the doctor's judgment. Prolonged use of vasoconstrictors can alter the normal function of the nasal mucosa and paranasal sinuses, also leading to drug addiction. Repeated applications for long periods can be harmful. Use with caution in the first months of pregnancy and, due to the risk of urinary retention, in the elderly. Use, especially if prolonged, of topical products can cause serious side effects. This may cause sensitization: in this case, treatment must be discontinued and appropriate therapy instituted. If a complete therapeutic response is not achieved within a few days, consult your doctor; in any case, treatment should not be continued for more than 4 days. Strictly adhere to the recommended doses. It should not be used orally. If accidentally ingested or if used for a long time in excessive doses, the product may cause toxicity. Keep out of reach of children, as accidental ingestion may cause severe sedation. Avoid contact of the liquid with eyes. Caution for athletes: the product contains substances prohibited for doping. Any dosage regimen or route of administration other than those indicated is prohibited.

Interactions

Do not administer during and within two weeks of treatment with antidepressant drugs.

Side effects

The product may cause local rebound sensitization and mucosal congestion. Rapid absorption of oxymetazoline through inflamed mucosa may cause systemic effects, including arterial hypertension, reflex bradycardia, headache, and urination disorders. Occasionally, irritation and dryness of the throat and mouth may occur.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

Use with caution in the first months of pregnancy and during breastfeeding, after having carefully evaluated the risk/benefit ratio.
