Product Description

Anesthetic of accessible mucous membranes of the oropharyngeal cavity, anal and rectal itching. Anesthetic in case of minor skin lesions.

Ingredients

100 g of ointment contain: Active ingredient: lidocaine hydrochloride 6.15 g; equivalent to lidocaine base 5 g Excipients: cetearyl alcohol 9 g; sodium lauryl sulfate 1 g; vaseline oil 15 g; white stringy petrolatum 5 g; methyl p-hydroxybenzoate 0.15 g; Deionized water 63.70 g.

Excipients

Cetylstearyl alcohol, sodium lauryl sulfate, vaseline oil, white stringy vaseline, methyl p-hydroxybenzoate, deionized water.

Contraindications

Subjects with hypersensitivity to the components of the product or to other topical anesthetics of the amide type.

Directions for use

Apply the ointment to the affected area appropriately; If the skin shows lacerations, it is advisable to spread the ointment using a sterile gauze pad.

In dentistry, when anesthetizing the oral mucosa, dry it with a cotton ball and a saliva ejector to minimize the dilution of the ointment and promote maximum absorption of the lidocaine.

When fitting new dentures, spread the ointment on the surface in contact with the mucosa (Important: the settling-in period).

Daily application should not exceed 35 g of ointment.

Warnings

Ortodermina should be used with caution by those subjects with particularly traumatized mucosa and sepsis in the area intended for application of the ointment.

In any case, the safety of use depends on the dosage, a correct application technique and the adoption of precautionary measures. The product should be used at the lowest effective dose, appropriately reducing the dose based on age and physical condition in children, the elderly, and acutely ill patients.

Undesirable effects

With the use of lidocaine, local and general allergic reactions, up to anaphylactoid manifestations, may occur. The appearance of systemic signs is rare and is due to excessive dosage, rapid absorption, hypersensitivity, or reduced tolerance. In these cases, cardiovascular depression and nervous excitement may occur, followed by sedation with drowsiness or loss of consciousness. In such cases, it is necessary to adopt appropriate emergency measures.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

In pregnant women and in early childhood, the product should be used only when strictly necessary and under direct medical supervision.
