Nail polish for onychomycosis
Onilaq is used for the treatment of mild distal and lateral subungual onychomycosis caused by dermatophytes, yeasts, and molds involving no more than two nails in an adult.
ACTIVE INGREDIENTS:
50 mg/ml amorolfine
Apply the nail polish to the affected nails once a week.
When applying the nail polish, carefully observe the following recommendations: before starting the first treatment, clean the nails thoroughly.
Remove any layers of previously applied nail polish with nail polish remover; then, using a nail file, file the surface of the nail as finely as possible. as thoroughly as possible.
Be careful not to file the skin around the nail; the nail surface must be clean and degreased using one of the cleansing pads; using one of the supplied (reusable) applicators, apply the polish to the entire surface of the nail.
Between one application on the nail and the next, clean the applicator with the supplied cleansing pad to avoid contaminating the medicated nail polish.
Do not rub the applicator on the edge of the bottle itself; to avoid contaminating the polish, the applicator must be thoroughly cleaned with one of the supplied cleansing pads after each application before proceeding with the treatment of another nail. If the polish comes into contact with the outside of the cap, clean with a supplied cleansing pad to avoid contact with the skin; keep the bottle tightly closed.
Repeat the procedure for each affected nail. It is important to wash your hands after each application.
If applying to fingernails, wait until the polish is completely dry before washing.
Treatment must be continued without interruption until the nail has regenerated.
In general, the duration of treatment is 6 months for fingernails and 9 months for toenails.
After a 3-month treatment without results, re-evaluate the therapy.
Emery boards used for diseased nails should not be used on healthy nails.
Before each new application, remove any remaining polish, file the affected nails if necessary, and then always clean them with a cleansing pad.
Avoid any contact with eyes, ears, or mucous membranes.
Treatment should be initiated in patients with peripheral vascular disease, diabetes, immune system diseases, as well as in patients with nail dystrophy or severely damaged nails. damaged.
In these cases, systemic therapy should be considered.
Patients with a history of lesions, skin conditions such as psoriasis or other chronic skin conditions, edema, respiratory problems, painful nails, distorted/deformed nails, or other symptoms should consult a doctor before starting treatment.
During treatment with amorolfine, cosmetic nail polish or artificial nails should not be used.
If organic solvents are used, it is advisable to wear waterproof gloves to avoid removing the layer of amorolfine medicated nail polish.
A systemic or local allergic reaction may occur after using this product.
In this case, discontinue application of the product immediately.
Carefully remove the product using nail polish remover.
The product should not be reapplied.
The use of nail polish is not recommended in patients under 18 years of age.
Clinical experience with the use of amorolfine during pregnancy and/or breastfeeding is limited.
Only a few cases of exposure to topical amorolfine in pregnant women have been reported during the post-authorisation period, therefore the potential risk is unknown.
It is not known whether amorolfine is excreted in human milk.
Amorolfine should not be used during pregnancy and/or breastfeeding unless clearly necessary.
