Eye drops for irritation and allergies.
Indications
Octilia 0.5mg/ml is a drug indicated for the symptomatic treatment of eye irritation caused by smoke, wind, salt water, prolonged exposure to light, allergic conjunctivitis and other irritants.
Composition
Active Ingredients: 100 ml contain 0.05 g of tetryzoline hydrochloride.
Excipients: sodium chloride, boric acid, borax, benzalkonium chloride sol., disodium edetate, sodium hydroxide and hydrochloric acid (for pH adjustment), water for injections.
Directions for use and Dosage
Use ocular. Instill one or two drops of this medicine in each eye two or three times a day. Do not exceed the recommended dose. Open by twisting and pulling the cap, applying light pressure to the container, which will be sufficient to release the drop into the eye. To avoid contamination of the product, avoid contact of the tip of the dropper with any surface. After instillation, it is advisable to blink your eyelids gently for a few seconds to facilitate even distribution of the drops. Contact lenses should be removed before use. The product should only be used for minor eye irritation.
If relief is not achieved within 48 hours or if irritation or redness persists or increases, discontinue use and consult your doctor.
Discontinue treatment as soon as symptoms disappear and never continue for more than a week.
Warnings
This medicine should not be used in children under three years of age. Caution is recommended in patients over 65 years of age. As with other ophthalmic products, systemic absorption is possible. If you experience eye pain, headache, sudden changes in visual field, visual spots, intense redness of the eye, intolerance to light, or double vision, discontinue use and consult your doctor promptly. Use for ophthalmic purposes only. If no improvement is achieved within 48 hours or if irritation or redness persists or increases, discontinue use and consult your doctor. Infections, pus, foreign bodies in the eye, mechanical, chemical, or heat damage require medical attention. The product should be used with caution in patients with hypertension, hyperthyroidism, severe cardiovascular disease, and hyperglycemia (diabetes mellitus). If ingested or used for a long time at excessive doses, the product may cause toxicity. Long-term use and abuse of the product may cause increased hyperemia or rebound hyperemia. Use of the product may cause temporary mydriasis. Important information about some excipients: Regarding the formulation in the 10 ml bottle, as with all ophthalmic preparations containing benzalkonium chloride, use of the product may cause eye irritation. Avoid contact with soft contact lenses. The excipient benzalkonium chloride has a discoloring effect on soft contact lenses; therefore, contact lenses must be removed before application and wait at least 15 minutes before reinserting them.
