Characteristics

Novat 380 prevents pregnancy by preventing fertilization. It is based on the inhibition of sperm and egg transport and/or the ability of sperm to fertilize the egg.

The pregnancy rate is 1.26 per 100 women-years. After removal of the NOVA-T, fertility is promptly restored.

Duration of use: NOVA-T can be left inserted for up to 30 months; removal should be performed during menstruation. If the device is removed mid-cycle and the woman has had intercourse within a week, she is at risk of pregnancy unless a new device is inserted immediately after removal.

How to use

An instrument called a speculum is inserted into the vagina, and the cervix is ​​disinfected with an antiseptic solution. The Nove T 380 device is then inserted into the uterus by the gynecologist using the applicator, a thin, flexible plastic tube. The patient feels its presence but generally does not experience unacceptable pain. It is normal for changes in menstrual flow to occur during the first few months. The Nova T 380 provides protection against pregnancy for five years, after which it should be removed.

Warnings

Before insertion, you should undergo tests such as a Pap smear and other tests for infections such as sexually transmitted diseases, as necessary.

You should also undergo a gynecological examination to determine the position and size of the uterus.

Use of the device may result in pelvic inflammatory disease. Some women may experience pain and dizziness after insertion.

The device should not be used if any of the following conditions apply: confirmed or suspected pregnancy; current or recurrent pelvic inflammatory disease; infection of the lower genital tract; infection of the uterus after childbirth or after an abortion in the previous 3 months; untreated cervicitis; Cervical or endometrial cancer; untreated cervical dysplasia; abnormal uterine bleeding of unknown etiology; abnormalities of the cervix or uterus, including fibroids that distort the uterine cavity; copper allergy; Wilson's disease; blood clotting disorders; conditions associated with increased susceptibility to infection.
