Indications
Mucostar 50 mg/ml Syrup is a mucolytic and fluidifying agent for acute and chronic respiratory system conditions.
Composition
Active ingredients
50 mg/ml Syrup 100 ml of syrup contain: Active ingredient: carbocisteine 5 g
Excipients
Sucrose, glycerin, methyl p-hydroxybenzoate, propyl p-hydroxybenzoate, flavouring (champagne soda flavouring), purified water to 100 ml, sodium hydroxide to approximately pH 6.
Directions for use and Dosage
According to medical prescription. Taking into account the average body weights at various ages, it can The following dosage regimen is suggested:
- adults and children over 13-15 years: three spoonfuls a day;
- children from 2 to 5 (5-20 kg): 1/2 - 2 teaspoons a day;
- children from 5 to 10 years (20-30 kg): 2 - 3 teaspoons a day;
- children from 10 to 12 years (30-40 kg): 3 - 4 teaspoons a day.
The syrup should be administered away from meals, in two-three administrations at regular intervals.
Warnings
Mucolytics can induce bronchial obstruction in children under two years of age. They should therefore not be used in children under two years of age (see 4.3). The medicine contains: methyl p-hydroxybenzoate, propyl p-hydroxybenzoate which can cause allergic reactions (possibly delayed). The medicine contains: sucrose. Patients with rare hereditary problems of fructose intolerance, glucose-galactose malabsorption, or sucrase-isomaltase insufficiency should not take this medicine.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the excipients. Gastroduodenal ulcers. Pregnancy and breastfeeding. The medicine is contraindicated in children under 2 years of age.
Side effects
The following may occur: dizziness and digestive problems (gastralgia, nausea, diarrhea). In this case, it is necessary to reduce the dosage or discontinue therapy.
