Indications

Minoximen is indicated for the symptomatic treatment of androgenic alopecia. The efficacy of Minoximen has not been established in the following forms: localized or generalized congenital alopecia; cicatricial alopecia of various kinds (post-traumatic, psychological, or infectious); acute diffuse alopecia caused by toxic substances or medications in which hair regrowth depends on the suppression of the specific cause; area celsi. Furthermore, the tolerability and efficacy of Minoximen in subjects under 18 years of age and in patients over 55 years of age have not been determined.

Composition

100 ml contain: active ingredientminoxidil 5 g.

Excipients

Propylene glycol, alcohol, purified water.

Contraindications

Minoximen is contraindicated in subjects who have previously shown hypersensitivity to the components of the product. Minoximen should not be used in the presence of coronary heart disease, arrhythmias, congestive heart failure or valvular heart disease. In the presence of other cardiovascular disorders, including hypertension, the use of Minoximen is subject to the doctor's judgment. Do not use if pregnant or breastfeeding.

Dosage

For external use only. Use Minoximen only according to the instructions. A dose of 1 ml of MINOXIMEN should be applied twice daily to the scalp, starting from the center of the affected area. The dose is independent of the size of the area to be treated. The total daily dose should not exceed 2 ml. Wash your hands thoroughly after applying Minoximen. Apply Minoximen only to completely dry hair and scalp. Do not apply Minoximen to other areas of the body. Clinical experience with Minoximen indicates that twice-daily applications for 3–4 months may be necessary before there are visible signs of hair growth. The onset of these signs and their intensity vary from patient to patient. In all cases, the physician should evaluate the possibility of suspending treatment if no therapeutic results are observed within this period. Relapse to the pre-treatment state following discontinuation of therapy occurs within 3–4 months. Directions for use: Unscrew the cap and insert the dropper. After filling it to the 1 ml mark, apply a few drops of Minoximen to the scalp and distribute the liquid with the fingertips over the entire bald area. Repeat until the entire 1 ml dose has been applied. After use, screw the dropper tightly onto the bottle. Helpful tips: Apply Minoximen twice a day, preferably in the morning and evening. – Distribute the product over the entire affected area. – If washing your hair, it must be done only before applying Minoximen. – Before applying Minoximen, make sure your scalp is perfectly dry. – During treatment with Minoximen, it is not necessary to change your hygiene habits regarding your scalp. However, the use of a delicate shampoo is recommended. – If Minoximen is inadvertently interrupted for 1 or 2 days, resume treatment following the dosage schedule indicated in the package leaflet (1 ml of Minoximen twice a day).

Warnings and precautions

Before starting treatment with Minoximen, the user must check that the scalp is intact and in good health. Discontinue treatment and consult a doctor if the following occur: chest pain, tachycardia, weakness or dizziness, sudden and unexplained weight gain or swelling of the hands and/or feet, or in the case of persistent redness or irritation of the scalp. Although extensive experience with the use of topical minoxidil has not shown absorption of the drug sufficient to produce systemic effects, incorrect use or individual variability or particular sensitivity could cause increased absorption with potential systemic effects. MINOXIMEN contains alcohol, which causes burning and irritation. Therefore, in case of accidental contact with sensitive surfaces (eyes, abraded skin, mucous membranes), wash the area with plenty of fresh water. The use of topical products, especially if prolonged, may give rise to sensitization phenomena. In this case, discontinue treatment and consult your doctor to establish appropriate therapy.

Interactions

There are currently no known interactions associated with the use of Minoximen. The extent of absorption of topical minoxidil is controlled and limited by the stratum corneum. Topical drugs, such as tretinoin and anthranil, which alter the corneal barrier, could cause increased absorption of minoxidil if applied simultaneously.

Side effects

The most common side effects are: The most common adverse reactions that occurred during clinical trials with Minoximen were minor dermatological reactions. The most common adverse effects were local irritation, consisting of scaling, erythema, dermatitis, pruritus, dry skin, hypertrichosis (in areas other than those treated with Minoximen), burning sensation, and rash. Other uncommon adverse effects included: allergic reactions (sensitization, urticaria, generalized erythema, and facial edema), dizziness, tingling, headache, weakness, neuritis, edema, eczema, eye irritation, taste disturbance, ear infections (particularly otitis externa), and visual disturbances. Rarely reported side effects include hair abnormalities, exacerbation of hair loss, alopecia, chest pain, changes in blood pressure, changes in heart rate, hepatitis, kidney stones, and sexual dysfunction.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

The effects of Minoximen during pregnancy are unknown. Systemically administered minoxidil is excreted in human milk. Minoximen should not be used by pregnant or breastfeeding women.
