Ideal medicine for the symptomatic treatment of hyperacidity.

Indications

Maalox Plus 4% + 3.5% + 0.5% is an antacid combined with an antimeteoric, used as an adjuvant in dyspepsia (reduced digestive activity) caused by gastric hyperacidity.

This medicine contains:

• magnesium hydroxide and aluminum hydroxide which reduce the burning sensation by neutralizing hyperacidity
• dimethicone which has an action against intestinal swelling, which is the cause of meteorism and flatulence.

This medicine is used:

• alone to treat the following symptoms: heartburn and stomach pain even in case of inflammation of the esophagus (esophagitis).
• together with other therapies to: reduce stomach acid (hyperacidity) and excess intestinal gas (meteorism) associated with digestive disorders (dyspepsia); treat lesions of the internal mucosa of the stomach, duodenum or esophagus (gastroduodenal ulcers).

Composition

Active ingredients are: magnesium hydroxide, aluminum hydroxide and dimethicone.

How to use and dosage

The recommended dose for adults and adolescents over 18 years of age is: 2-4 teaspoons of oral suspension 4 times a day, to be taken 20-60 minutes after meals and before going to bed.

How to use: Shake the bottle well before use. It can be used as a diuretic. Take this medicine alone or mixed with water or milk.

Warnings

Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Maalox Plus: if you have intestinal problems or constipation, if you have minor kidney problems, or if you are elderly, as this medicine may make intestinal problems worse; if you are on a low-phosphorus diet, if you have low levels of phosphatides in your blood (hypophosphatemia), or if you are on long-term treatment. This medicine reduces phosphate levels in your blood and may cause bone problems. If you are taking this medicine at a high dose or if you are prone to diarrhea, be careful, as this medicine may cause diarrhea. This medicine should not be used in children and adolescents under 18 years of age.

Storage

Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children. Do not store below 4°C. Keep the bottle tightly closed. Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the carton after "EXP." The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.
