Composition:
100 g of cream contain: active ingredient fenticonazole nitrate 2 g. Excipients: hydrogenated lanolin; cetyl alcohol. For a full list of excipients, see section 6.1.
Excipients
Propylene glycol; hydrogenated lanolin; sweet almond oil; polyglycolic acid ester of fatty acids; cetyl alcohol; glyceryl monostearate; sodium edetate; purified water.
Therapeutic indications
- Dermatomycosis caused by dermatophytes (Trichophyton, Microsporum, Epidermiphyton) in various locations: tinea capitis, tinea corporis, tinea cruris, tinea pedis (athlete's foot), tinea manuum, tinea faciei, tinea barbae, tinea unguium. - Skin candidiasis (intertrigo, perleche, facial candidiasis, diaper candidiasis, perineal and scrotal candidiasis); balanitis, balanoposthitis, onychia and paronychia. - Pityriasis versicolor (from Pityrosporum orbiculare and P. ovale). - Otomycosis (from Candida or mold); only if there are no lesions of the eardrum. - Erythrasma. - Mycosis with bacterial superinfections (from Gram-positive bacteria).
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to the active ingredient or to any of the excipients.
Dosage
Lorenil should be applied 1-2 times a day, according to the doctor's advice, after washing and drying the affected area, using the formulation suitable for the location of the lesion. The cream is indicated for the treatment of hairless skin, skin folds and mucous membranes; it should be applied by lightly rubbing. Lorenil cream is used preferably for dry mycoses: Pityriasis versicolor, erythrasma, onychomycosis (in onychomycosis the cream should be applied with an occlusive dressing); the cream is suitable for use in male genital mycoses. Treatments with Lorenil should be performed regularly until the lesions have completely disappeared. Lorenil is non-greasy, non-staining, and easily removable with water.
Warnings and precautions
The use of topical products, especially if prolonged, may give rise to sensitization phenomena. Upon application to the lesion, a slight burning sensation may be felt, which disappears quickly.
Interactions
None known.
Side effects
Lorenil is generally well tolerated, both on the skin and mucous membranes; only exceptionally have mild and transient erythematous reactions been reported. In case of hypersensitivity reactions or the development of resistant microorganisms, treatment should be discontinued. Lorenil is poorly absorbed under the recommended conditions of use, so systemic repercussions can be ruled out.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
Although the absorption of the medicine is poor, the use of Lorenil during pregnancy and breastfeeding is not recommended except in special cases and after a careful evaluation of the benefit/risk ratio by the doctor.
