Unless otherwise prescribed by your doctor, Lisomucil syrup can be administered in case of:
Hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the excipients.
Gastroduodenal ulcer.
Lisomucil children syrup is contraindicated in children under 2 years of age.
Mucolytics can induce bronchial obstruction in children under 2 years of age. In fact, the drainage capacity of bronchial mucus is limited in this age group, due to the physiological characteristics of the airways. They should therefore not be used in children under 2 years of age.
Lisomucil children's syrup with sugar contains sucrose in quantities equal to 140 g per 200 ml bottle; this should be taken into account in cases of diabetes or a low-calorie diet. The daily dosage of 3 teaspoons per day (equal to 15 ml of syrup) provides 10.5 g of sucrose, while the dosage of 2 teaspoons per day (equal to 10 ml of syrup) provides 7 g of sucrose. Patients with hereditary fructose intolerance, glucose-galactose malabsorption syndrome, or sucrase-isomerase deficiency should not take this medicine.
Lisomucil children's syrup contains cochineal red A (E 124) which may cause allergic reactions. cause allergic-type reactions.
Lisomucil children's syrup contains methyl parahydroxybenzoate, which can cause allergic reactions (even delayed).
If you are on a low-sodium diet, please note that the recommended dose of 5 ml of syrup contains approximately 13 mg of sodium.
At the current state of knowledge, there are no known incompatibilities between the administration of carbocisteine and the most common drugs used in the treatment of upper and lower airway conditions, nor with foods or laboratory tests. In any case, inform your doctor or pharmacist if you have recently taken any other medicines, even those obtained without a prescription.
Like all medicines, Lisomucil syrup can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. Undesirable effects are listed according to the following frequency classification: Very common (>1/10); common (>1/100, <1/10); uncommon (>1/1,000, <1/100); rare (>1/10,000, <1/1,000); very rare (<1/10,000), not known (frequency cannot be estimated from the available data).
Immune system disorders: Frequency not known: anaphylactic reaction.
Gastrointestinal disorders: Very common: diarrhoea, nausea and upper abdominal pain. Frequency not known: vomiting.
Skin and subcutaneous tissue disorders: Frequency not known: Stevens-Johnson syndrome; Erythema multiforme; Toxic skin eruption; drug eruption; skin rash.
Dizziness may occur.
In such cases, it is advisable to reduce the dosage.
Bronchial obstruction may also occur (frequency unknown).
In such cases, discontinue treatment and consult your doctor to establish appropriate therapy.
Following the instructions in the package leaflet reduces the risk of side effects.
