Indications
Hylo Dual hydrates the cornea and conjunctiva and protects against excessive tear evaporation. This stabilization of the tear film soothes eye irritation associated with inflammatory or allergy-induced symptoms and eliminates burning and itching.
Burning and itching, tearing, a feeling of a foreign body in the eyes, or dryness are symptoms of an irritated eye. These signs often indicate that the eye is not sufficiently hydrated. Another cause could be hypersensitivity to certain substances (such as pollen, animal hair, or house dust), known as allergies. Since allergies present with the same symptoms, it is difficult to distinguish between a dry eye and an eye irritated by an allergy. In these cases, Hylo Dual offers particular advantages thanks to its dual mechanism of action, which involves sodium hyaluronate and ectoin. Hylo Dual contains sodium hyaluronate, a natural substance found in the eye and other parts of the body. Sodium hyaluronate has the unique physical property of forming a uniform, stable, and long-lasting wetting film on the surface of the eye that is not rapidly eliminated. Ectoin is a natural substance extracted from microorganisms that live in extreme environments (such as salt lakes). To protect themselves from extreme environmental factors, these microorganisms produce ectoin, a natural substance whose special properties are utilized in Hylo Dual. Ectoin increases the adhesion of water to the cells of the ocular surface, thus creating a physiological barrier to allergens on the conjunctiva. At the same time, ectoin stabilizes the fat-soluble portion of the tear film, which protects against excessive tear evaporation. The interaction between sodium hyaluronate and ectoin creates a dense, long-lasting film of moisture on the eye, protecting it from tear evaporation. Hylo Dual thus relieves inflammatory symptoms and typical symptoms of allergic reactions, such as burning and itching caused by environmental irritation.
Composition
1 ml of Hylo Dual contains:
0.5 mg sodium hyaluronate, 20 mg ectoin, boric acid, borax, and water for injections.
Directions for use
Use Hylo Dual only if the outer packaging is sealed and intact before use.
- Remove the cap before use. To remove the cap, hold it firmly with one hand and twist the bottle downwards with the other. Before the first application of Hylo Dual, turn the bottle upside down with the dropper facing down and press on the bottom of the bottle to release the first drop. The bottle is now ready for subsequent applications.
- Hold the bottle upside down with your thumb on the top of the bottle and your other fingers on the bottom.
- Support the hand holding the bottle created using the COMOD technique with your free hand.
- Tilt your head back slightly, gently pull your lower eyelid down with your free hand, and quickly and firmly press on the bottom of the bottle. This activates the drop release mechanism. Thanks to the special valve mechanism of the COMOD system, the size and speed of release of a drop are always the same, regardless of the pressure applied. Close your eyes slowly to allow the fluid to spread evenly over the ocular surface.
- After use, immediately replace the cap on the bottle, ensuring there is no liquid remaining on the dropper. During instillation, avoid any contact between the dropper and the eye or facial skin. The COMOD system delivers 10 ml of solution, equivalent to approximately 300 drops. For technical reasons, a small amount of solution always remains in the bottle after use. Hylo Dual is not intended for use for a limited period. It is recommended that the Hylo Dual bottle be used for the treatment of one person only.
Warnings
If using any other eye drops, wait at least 30 minutes between applications and always use Hylo Dual last. Eye ointments, however, should always be applied after Hylo Dual. Since Hylo Dual eye drops do not contain preservatives, long-term treatment is particularly well tolerated. Hypersensitivity reactions (burning, excessive tearing) have been observed in very rare cases, but these disappear immediately upon discontinuation of Hylo Dual. Hylo Dual can also be used while wearing contact lenses. After applying contact lenses, we recommend waiting approximately 30 minutes before applying the eye drops to avoid possible intolerance reactions that could be caused by interactions between contact lens cleaners and Hylo Dual. Currently, no information is available regarding the use of the product during pregnancy and breastfeeding. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or may be pregnant, consult your doctor or pharmacist before using Hylo Dual. Hylo Dual should be administered according to the recommendations of your ophthalmologist. In general, for adults and children aged 6 years and over, instill 1 drop of Hylo Dual 3 times a day into the conjunctival sac of each eye. If Hylo Dual is used more frequently (e.g., more than 10 times a day) or in case of more severe symptoms, it is necessary to consult an ophthalmologist to have your eyes examined regularly. Hylo Dual is suitable for long-term use; however, as with any other condition, if the symptoms persist (e.g., more than two weeks), it is strongly recommended to consult an ophthalmologist.
Do not use in case of known hypersensitivity to one of the components and in children under 6 years.
Storage
Do not store above 25°C.
Hylo Dual can be stored in a cool, dry place. Can be used for 6 months after opening.
Do not use after the expiry date.
Shelf life in unopened packaging: 36 months.
