Active ingredients
100 grams of cream contain: active ingredient: heparan sulfate sodium salt 1 g. Excipients with known effects: methyl p-hydroxybenzoate (E218), propyl p-hydroxybenzoate (E216), cetylstearyl alcohol. For the full list of excipients, see section 6.1.
Excipients
Glyceryl monostearate, oleic acid decylester, cetylstearyl alcohol, polyglycolic acid ether of fatty alcohols, methyl p-hydroxybenzoate (E218), propyl p-hydroxybenzoate (E216), neroli essence, purified water.
Therapeutic indications
Treatment of symptoms attributable to venous insufficiency. Capillary fragility states. Minor trauma. Haematomas. HEMOVASAL is indicated in adults.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the excipients listed in section 6.1. HEMOVASAL 1% CREAM should not be applied to open skin lesions, mucous membranes, or to sites of infection in the case of suppurative processes.
Dosage
Dosage 2–3 applications per day. Method of administration Each application must be made in such a way as to cover the entire area affected by the pathology. Paediatric population There are no data available.
Warnings and precautions
The use, especially if prolonged, of products for topical use may give rise to sensitization phenomena. In this case, it is necessary to discontinue treatment and adopt appropriate therapeutic measures. HEMOVASAL 1% CREAM contains p-hydroxybenzoates which can cause allergic reactions (even delayed). Furthermore, it contains cetylstearyl alcohol which can cause local skin reactions (e.g. contact dermatitis). Do not administer to children.
Interactions
No interactions with other drugs are known. Interaction studies have only been performed in adults.
Undesirable effects
One case of urticarial reaction, probably related to the drug, has been reported and promptly regressed with discontinuation of therapy. Pregnancy and breastfeeding
Reproductive toxicology studies have excluded any effect of Hemovasal 1% cream on gametogenesis, embryogenesis, and peri- and postnatal development of the fetus. However, prudence recommends administering Hemovasal 1% cream during pregnancy only when strictly necessary and under the direct supervision of a physician.
