Gastroschoum Reflux 20 mg hard capsules is a medicine containing omeprazole, a proton pump inhibitor, used for the short-term treatment of reflux symptoms such as heartburn and acid regurgitation.

Indications

Schoum gastroprotect contains the active substance omeprazole. It belongs to a group of medicines called 'proton pump inhibitors. These medicines work by reducing the amount of acid produced by the stomach.

This medicine is It is used in adults for the short-term treatment of reflux symptoms (for example, heartburn and acid regurgitation).Reflux is the backflow of acid from the stomach into the esophagus (food pipe), which can become inflamed and painful. This can cause symptoms such as a painful burning sensation in the chest rising up into the throat (heartburn) and a sour taste in the mouth (acid regurgitation).You may need to take the capsules for 2-3 consecutive days before you feel better.

How to use Directions for Use and Dosage

The recommended dose is one capsule (20 mg) once daily for up to 14 days. Contact your doctor if you are not symptom-free after this period.

You may need to take the capsules for 2 or 3 consecutive days before your symptoms improve. Most patients achieve complete symptom relief within 7 days. Once you are completely symptom-free, you should stop taking GastroSchoum Reflux.

Interactions

Do not take GastroSchoum Reflux if you are taking a medicine containing nelfinavir (used for HIV infections).

Contraindications

Do not take GastroSchoum Reflux:

  • if you are allergic to omeprazole, or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6);
  • if you are allergic to medicines containing other proton pump inhibitors (for example pantoprazole, lansoprazole, rabeprazole, esomeprazole);
  • if you are taking a medicine containing nelfinavir (used for HIV infections).

You should not take Gastroschoum Reflux if any of the above applies to you. If you are not sure, talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking this medicine.

Side effects

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects. cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

If you experience any of the following rare (may affect up to 1 in 1,000 people) or very rare (may affect up to 1 in 10,000 people) but serious side effects, stop taking Gastroschoum Reflux and contact your doctor immediately:

  • sudden wheezing, swelling of the lips, tongue, throat, or body, rash, fainting, or difficulty swallowing (severe allergic reaction). (rare);
  • redness of the skin with blisters or peeling. Severe blisters and bleeding of the lips, eyes, mouth, nose, and genitals may also occur. These may be signs of Stevens-Johnson syndrome or toxic epidermal necrolysis. (very rare);
  • widespread rash, high body temperature, and swollen lymph nodes (Dress syndrome or drug hypersensitivity syndrome). (rare);
  • widespread, red, scaly rash with bumps under the skin and blisters, accompanied by fever. Symptoms usually appear at the start of treatment (acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis). (rare);
  • yellow skin, dark urine, and tiredness, which may be symptoms of liver problems. (rare)

Gastroschoum Reflux can in very rare cases affect the white blood cells, leading to immunodeficiency. If you experience an infection with symptoms such as fever with severe deterioration in general health or fever with symptoms of a local infection such as pain in the neck, throat, or mouth or difficulty urinating, you should consult your doctor as soon as possible so that a lack of white blood cells (agranulocytosis) can be ruled out by performing a blood test. In this case, it is important that you tell your doctor about the medicine you are taking.

Other side effects:

Common (may affect up to 1 in 10 people)

  • Headache.
  • Effects on the stomach or intestines: diarrhea, stomach pain, constipation, flatulence.
  • Feeling sick (nausea) or being sick (vomiting).
  • Benign polyps in the stomach.

Uncommon (may affect up to 1 in 10 people) 100)

  • Swelling of the feet and ankles.
  • Sleep disturbances (insomnia).
  • Dizziness, pins-and-needles sensation, feeling sleepy.
  • Spinning sensation (vertigo).
  • Changes in blood tests that evaluate how well the liver is working.
  • Skin rash, rash with bumps (hives), and itchy skin.
  • Generally feeling unwell and with little energy.

Rare (may affect up to 1 in 1,000 people)

  • Blood problems such as a reduction in white blood cells or platelets. This can cause weakness, bruising, or the possibility of getting infections more easily.
  • Low sodium levels in the blood. This can cause weakness, being sick (vomiting), and cramps.
  • Feeling agitated, confused, or depressed.
  • Altered taste.
  • Vision problems such as blurred vision.
  • Suddenly feeling breathless or short of breath (bronchospasm).
  • Dry mouth.
  • Inflammation of the inside of the mouth.
  • An infection called 'thrush' which can affect the gut and is caused by a fungus.
  • Hair loss (alopecia).
  • Skin rash when exposed to sunlight.
  • Joint pain (arthralgia) or muscle pain (myalgia).
  • Severe kidney problems (interstitial nephritis).
  • Increased sweating.

Very rare (may affect up to 1 in 10,000 people)

  • Changes in blood counts, including agranulocytosis (lack of white blood cells).
  • Behavior Aggressive.
  • Seeing, feeling, or hearing things that are not there (hallucinations).
  • Serious liver problems leading to liver failure and inflammation of the brain.
  • Erythema multiforme.
  • Muscle weakness.
  • Gynaecomastia in men.

Frequency not known (frequency cannot be estimated from the available data):

  • Inflammation of the intestine (which may lead to diarrhea).
  • Hypomagnesaemia (deficiency of magnesium in the blood).
  • Erythema.possible pain joints.
