Pharmacotherapeutic category: Mucolytics.
FrobeMucil treatment of respiratory conditions characterized by thick and viscous hypersecretion.
600 mg of acetylcysteine.
Anhydrous citric acid, ascorbic acid, sodium citrate dihydrate, sodium cyclamate, sodium saccharin, mannitol, sodium hydrogen carbonate, anhydrous sodium carbonate, anhydrous lactose, lemon flavoring "AU" (code 132).
1 effervescent tablet per day (preferably in the evening).
The duration of therapy is from 5 to 10 days.
Dissolve the tablet in a glass containing a little water, stirring as needed with a teaspoon.
Patients suffering from bronchial asthma must be closely monitored during therapy.
If bronchospasm occurs, treatment must be stopped immediately.
Particular caution is required when using the medicine in patients suffering from peptic ulcer or with a history of peptic ulcer, especially if other drugs with a known gastrointestinal effect are being taken at the same time.
The possible presence of a sulphurous odor does not indicate an alteration of the preparation but is typical of the active ingredient it contains.
The administration of acetylcysteine, especially at the beginning of treatment, may cause allergic reactions. fluidify bronchial secretions and simultaneously increase their volume.
If the patient is unable to expectorate effectively, postural drainage and bronchoaspiration should be used to avoid retention of secretions.
Mucolytics can induce bronchial obstruction in children under 2 years of age.
In fact, the capacity for bronchial mucus drainage is limited in this age group, due to the physiological characteristics of the airways.
They should therefore not be used in children under 2 years of age.
Patients with rare hereditary problems of galactose intolerance, the Lapp lactase deficiency, or glucose-galactose malabsorption should not take this medicine.
The tablets contain 6 mmol sodium per dose; Keep this information in mind in patients with reduced renal function or on a low-sodium diet.
Drug-drug interaction studies have only been conducted in adult patients.
Antitussive drugs and N-acetylcysteine should not be taken at the same time as the reduction of the cough reflex could lead to an accumulation of bronchial secretions.
Activated charcoal may reduce the effect of N-acetylcysteine.
It is recommended not to mix other drugs.
Although teratological studies conducted with acetylcysteine on animals have not shown any teratogenic effect, however, as with other drugs, its administration during pregnancy and during breastfeeding should be carried out only if strictly necessary.
This medicine does not require any special storage precautions.
