What is FLUifort® 90 mg/ml syrup?
FLUifort® 90 mg/ml syrup is a preparation for coughs and colds based on carbocisteine lysine salt.
What does it look like?
Syrup for oral use, in a 200 ml bottle.
Why is it used?
FLUifort® 90 mg/ml syrup is used as a mucolytic, fluidifying agent in acute and chronic respiratory tract conditions.
What does it contain?
One bottle (200 ml) contains:
Active ingredient: carbocisteine lysine salt monohydrate equal to 18 g of carbocisteine lysine salt;
1 ml of solution contains:
Active ingredient: Carbocisteine lysine salt monohydrate equal to 90 mg of carbocisteine lysine salt;
Excipients: sucrose, natural cherry flavor, methyl parahydroxybenzoate, caramel, purified water.
How is FLUifort® 90 mg/ml syrup used?
Adults: 15 ml 2-3 times a day or as prescribed by your doctor.
Children: over 5 years: 5 ml 2-3 times a day or as prescribed by your doctor,
from 2 to 5 years: 2.5 ml 2-3 times a day or as prescribed by your doctor.
FLUifort® 90 mg/ml syrup should only be used for short periods of treatment.
When is it contraindicated?
In case of:
• hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the excipients
• gastroduodenal ulcer
• pregnancy and breastfeeding
• in children under 2 years of age
Precautions for use
There are no known phenomena of habituation or dependence.
Which medicines or foods can alter the effect of the medicine?
No interactions have been observed with the most common drugs used in the treatment of upper and lower airway conditions or with foods.
In any case, inform your doctor or pharmacist if you have recently taken any other medicines, even those obtained without a prescription.
It is important to know that
Patients with rare hereditary problems of glucose intolerance, glucose-galactose malabsorption or sucrose-isomaltase insufficiency should not take this medicine.
The medicine contains methyl parahydroxybenzoate, known to possibly cause urticaria. In general, parahydroxybenzoates can cause delayed reactions, such as contact dermatitis, and rarely, immediate reactions with urticaria and bronchospasm.
Fluifort® 90 mg/ml syrup does not contain gluten; therefore, it can be administered to patients with celiac disease.
Fluifort® 90 mg/ml syrup does not contain aspartame; therefore, it can be administered to patients with phenylketonuria.
How to store FLUifort® 90 mg/ml syrup?
At a temperature not exceeding 25°C.
What to do during pregnancy and breastfeeding?
Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking any medicine.
Although the active ingredient is neither teratogenic nor mutagenic and has not shown any negative effects on reproductive function in animals, Fluifort should not be administered during pregnancy. Since there are no data available regarding the passage of carbocisteine lysine salt monohydrate into breast milk, use during breastfeeding is contraindicated.
Use should also be avoided if you suspect you are pregnant or are planning a pregnancy.
