Its versatility allows for customized use:

• Without an abduction cushion, it is Perfect for immobilizing the arm adjacent to the body, indicated for shoulder injuries or dislocations.
• With an abduction cushion, it allows the arm to be immobilized in 30° abduction (or 15° with the cushion alone equipped with a strap), essential for rotator cuff injuries or specific surgeries.

Directions for use

To ensure maximum effectiveness and comfort, it is recommended that the initial positioning of the brace be performed by a qualified specialist. Follow the instructions carefully for optimal use.

Preparation and Initial Positioning

• Remove the arm sling from the packaging. Open the hook-and-loop closure with the Dr. Gibaud Ortho logo and remove the waist strap, leaving the shoulder strap on the outside.
• Insert your forearm into the sleeve, maintaining a 90° angle to your arm. The internal padding can be adjusted or removed for greater comfort.
• Use the thumb loop inside the sleeve, which is adjustable via hook-and-loop closures for a custom fit.
• Close the sleeve with the appropriate hook-and-loop closure.
• Place the adjustable shoulder strap around your neck, on the side opposite the injured limb, and adjust the tubular padding for comfort.
• Adjust the length of the shoulder strap at both the lower and upper end. front and back.

Use for Abduction Immobilization (with cushion)

• Take the abduction cushion, unroll and remove the strap. Detach and reposition the hook and loop strap on the outside of the cushion, aligning it with the space on the arm sling.
• Place the cushion between the body and the sleeve, making sure the carabiner remains at the front. Apply any additional cushion using the hook and loop straps, positioning them at waist height. Couple the arm sling to the inclined side of the additional cushion.
• For 15° abduction, use only the abduction cushion.
• Place the strap around the waist, insert it into the loop on the cushion and secure it with the hook and loop fastener. Adjust the hook and loop closure of the alligator clips if necessary.
• In case of 15° abduction, use the underarm cushion to reduce pressure on the ulnar nerve by securing it to the abduction cushion.

Use for Immobilization in Adduction (without cushion)

• With the sleeve on, remove the carabiner from the pocket facing the body and hook the waist strap.
• Place the strap around the waist and insert it into the loop located at the end of the sleeve at elbow height.
• Fold the strap over itself and secure it with the hook and loop closure. Adjust the hook and loop closure of the alligator clips if necessary.

Adjusting the Straps

All Smartsling straps are equipped with alligator clips for easy adjustment. If a strap is too long, simply remove the clip, cut the strap to the desired length, and replace the clip.

Washing and Care Instructions

To maintain the integrity of the brace, we recommend hand washing in water at 30°C with neutral soap or detergent. Rinse thoroughly and hang to dry. Do not iron.
