Diosmectalgo by Mayoly Italia is a medical device, in single-dose sachets for oral administration, indicated for the treatment

• of acute diarrhea in adults and children over 8 years of age. The treatment of acute diarrhea in children must be accompanied by the administration of oral rehydration solutions to avoid dehydration.
• of chronic diarrhea or abdominal pain in adults.

Composition

Active ingredients

The main component of diosmectalGo® diosmectite 3g per sachet.

Excipients

Other ingredients are: caramel-cocoa flavor*, xanthan gum, citric acid monohydrate, ascorbic acid, potassium sorbate, sucralose, purified water. *Composition of caramel-cocoa flavor: blend of natural and synthetic flavors, caramel coloring E150d, caramelized sugar syrup, propylene glycol E1520, water, ethanol, caffeine.

Directions for use and dosage

The medical device is taken orally and is ready to drink. The contents of the sachet can be swallowed directly. Massage the sachet before opening. Each sachet should be used only once after opening.

Acute diarrhea

How long to take diosmectalGo for acute diarrhea:

You can use diosmectalGo® for up to 3 days. If diarrhea lasts more than 3 days, consult your doctor.

Chronic diarrhea and abdominal pain

How long to take diosmectalGo® for chronic diarrhea or abdominal pain:

Without medical advice, you can use this medical device for up to 2 weeks. Prolonged or repeated uses of diosmectalGo® are not recommended.

Warnings

Do not take:

• If you are allergic to diosmectite or any of the other ingredients;
• If you are a child under 8 years of age with acute diarrhoea;
• If you are a child with chronic diarrhoea or abdominal pain.

Do not try to treat the symptoms yourself and consult a doctor quickly if:

• The diarrhoea is accompanied by a high temperature, chills or repeated vomiting
• You have signs of dehydration (if you feel very thirsty, have a dry tongue, are tired and have persistent loss of appetite)
• Your stools contain blood or mucus
• The diarrhoea is accompanied by sudden weight loss
• The diarrhoea occurs during or after treatment with antibiotics
• You are you have known immunodeficiencies or are currently undergoing treatment that suppresses your immune system (immunosuppressive treatment or cancer treatment)
• You have recently returned from a trip to a tropical country.

Do not continue to treat your diarrhoea and consult your doctor if:

• Your symptoms do not improve or if they worsen after the recommended duration of treatment;
• Your diarrhoea returns frequently or you experience alternating attacks of diarrhoea and constipation.

Take special precautions:

• It should be used with caution in patients with a history of severe constipation
• It contains a small amount of ethanol (alcohol) less than 100 mg per daily dose

Warnings for patients with acute diarrhoea

In children, it should be used in combination with with an oral rehydration solution (ORS) to replace fluids lost due to diarrhea and to prevent dehydration. Food intake in children should be maintained even if diarrhea persists. Frequent, small meals of mixed foods (e.g., rice, eggs, meat, some cooked fruits and vegetables) are recommended. If your child shows behavioral changes, if diarrhea symptoms do not improve or worsen, or if frequent and persistent vomiting occurs, call your doctor. In adults with acute diarrhea, diosmectalGo® is a supplemental treatment to rehydration with water, to replace fluids lost due to diarrhea. Food intake should be maintained even if diarrhea persists. Small, light meals are recommended; avoid fatty, heavy, spicy, stimulant foods, or fruit juices. Treatment of diarrhea in elderly and frail patients requires special attention; diarrhea can cause significant fluid loss (dehydration), which can lead to serious complications. have serious consequences.

Warnings for patients with chronic diarrhea or abdominal pain

Prolonged and repeated use is not recommended. In case of chronic diarrhea or abdominal pain, if the symptoms persist for more than two weeks, consult your doctor, so that the underlying causes can be investigated before continuing treatment.

Other medicines

Do not take diosmectalGo at the same time as other oral medicines to avoid reducing their effectiveness. A 2-hour interval between taking diosmectalGo and other medicines is recommended. Inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines or medical devices, including those obtained without a prescription.

Side effects

The most common side effect reported during treatment is constipation. If constipation occurs, treatment should be stopped and, if necessary, resumed at a lower daily dose. Other less common side effects reported include rash, hives, itching, and angioedema (swollen skin, lips, throat, and tongue).

Overdose

If you miss a dose, take the dose after your next loose bowel movement. Do not exceed the recommended daily dose.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

Use is not recommended during pregnancy and breastfeeding. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant, or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking diosmectalGO.

Storage

Keep out of the reach and sight of children. Do not use after the expiry date stated on the carton. There are no special storage conditions for this medical device.
