Cream

Composition:

100 g of cream contain: Active ingredient: promethazine hydrochloride 2.25 g equal to 2.0 g of promethazine base. For the full list of excipients, see section 6.1.

Excipients

Excipients: liquid paraffin, stearic acid, glycerol, triethanolamine, methyl p-hydroxybenzoate, propyl p-hydroxybenzoate, white wax, purified water, thiourea.

Therapeutic indications

Local symptomatic treatment for insect bites and other localized skin irritations such as redness, burning, itching and sunburn.

Contraindications

PROMETHAZINA NA is contraindicated in case of: - Hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the excipients or to other chemically related substances; - eczema; - secreting lesions. PROMETAZINA NA is contraindicated in children under 2 years of age.

Dosage

Apply the cream 2-3 times a day to the affected area. Avoid application to very large areas, greater than 10% of the body surface. Do not exceed the recommended doses.

Warnings and precautions

Prolonged and inappropriate use of the medicine may give rise to allergic sensitization phenomena with consequent worsening of the symptoms. If this occurs, treatment should be suspended and a doctor should be consulted to establish appropriate therapy. Since the application of PROMETAZINA NA can delay the healing process, the medicine should not be used for more than 3-4 consecutive days on lesions in which this phenomenon is in progress. In case of sunburn, apply the medicine and avoid further exposure of irritated skin to the sun. If rashes, irritation, or burning occur, treatment should be discontinued. Important information about some of the excipients: the medicine contains methyl p-hydroxybenzoate and propyl p-hydroxybenzoate, which may cause allergic reactions, even delayed.

Interactions

There are no known interactions with other topical drugs.

Side effects

PROMETHAZINE NA may cause allergic reactions. The use of promethazine has been associated with photosensitivity reactions. Generous application of the medicine to very large areas of skin may cause allergic reactions. cause drowsiness.

In pregnant women, the medicine should be used only if strictly necessary and under medical supervision.
