Composition

Excipients

Therapeutic indications
CYCLOVIRANLABIALE is indicated in the treatment of herpes simplex virus infections of the lips (herpes labialis recurrent) in adults and children over 12 years.
Contraindications
Patients with known hypersensitivity to aciclovir, valaciclovir, propylene glycol or to any of the excipients. Children under 12 years.
Dosage
Adults and children over 12 years CYCLOVIRANLABIALE should be applied 5 times a day at approximately 4-hour intervals, omitting the nighttime application. CYCLOVIRANLABIALE should be applied to the lesions or areas where they are developing as early as possible after the onset of the infection. It is particularly important to start treatment of recurrent episodes during the prodrome phase or at the first appearance of the lesions. Treatment can be continued until the lesions are no longer present. It can also be started during the later stages (papules or vesicles). Treatment must continue for at least 4 days and up to a maximum of 10 if healing has not occurred. If lesions are still present after 10 days, patients are advised to consult their doctor. Patients must wash their hands before and after applying the cream and avoid unnecessary rubbing of the lesions or touching them with a towel in order to avoid worsening or transmission of the infection. Children under 12 years of age: The safety and efficacy of CYCLOVIRANLABIALE have not been studied in patients under 12 years of age.
Warnings and precautions
CYCLOVIRANLABIALE must be used only for cold sores on the lips. The product is not for ophthalmic use, nor is it suitable for children under 12 years of age. Application to the mucous membranes of the mouth, nose, or vagina is recommended as it may be irritating. The product should not be used to treat genital herpes. Particular care should be taken to avoid accidental application to the eyes. Use of the product, especially if prolonged, may give rise to sensitization phenomena; if this occurs, treatment should be discontinued. No phenomena of habituation or dependence on the drug have been reported. In severely immunocompromised patients (AIDS patients or patients with bone marrow transplants), the administration of aciclovir in oral formulations should be considered. It should be recommended that such patients consult their doctor regarding the treatment of any infection. Important information about some of the excipients of CYCLOVIRANLABIALE: Propylene glycol contained in the medicine may cause skin irritation. Cetostearyl alcohol present in the formulation may cause irritation. cause skin reactions (e.g. contact dermatitis).
Interactions
You should not apply other types of dermatological products (such as cosmetics, sunscreens, cocoa butter) or drugs that treat herpes at the same time as CYCLOVIRANLABIALE.
