Indications
Alfa Antihistamine Eye Drops are used in case of inflammation caused by eye allergies (with redness, tearing, burning, hypersensitivity to light, sensation of foreign bodies and itching caused by irritants such as excessive exposure to dust, smoke, etc.).
Components
Active ingredients
1 ml of solution contains: naphazoline nitrate 0.8 mg, thonzylamine hydrochloride 1 mg.
Excipients
Sodium chloride, sodium citrate, sodium citrate monobasic, sodium edetate, benzalkonium chloride, levomenthol, ethyl alcohol, water for injectable preparations.
Contraindications
It should not be used by subjects with closed-angle glaucoma or other serious eye diseases. Hypersensitivity to the components or to other closely related substances from a chemical point of view. It should not be used in children under twelve years of age. Concomitant treatment with monoamine oxidase inhibitor drugs.
Dosage
Instill 1-2 drops in the affected eye, up to 2-3 times a day, as needed. Strictly adhere to the recommended dose. A higher dosage of the product, even if taken topically and for a short period of time, can cause serious systemic effects. If symptoms persist or worsen after a short period of treatment, consult your doctor. In any case, the product should not be used for more than 4 consecutive days, unless otherwise prescribed by your doctor, as adverse effects may occur.
Warnings
Although the product has very low systemic absorption, it should be used with caution in patients with hypertension, hyperthyroidism, heart disease, bronchial asthma, and hyperglycemia (diabetes). Infections, pus, foreign bodies in the eye, mechanical, chemical, or heat damage require medical intervention. Accidental ingestion can cause CNS depression (marked sedation or hypotonia). Since the product, in the 10 ml bottle, contains benzalkonium chloride, soft contact lenses should not be worn during treatment. Since benzalkonium chloride is not present in the single-dose container, it can be used by contact lens wearers or by those who are hypersensitive to benzalkonium chloride.
Storage

Eye drops, single-dose container: store at a temperature not exceeding 30 degrees C, in the original packaging. The single-dose container does not contain preservatives; For this reason, each single-dose container, once opened, must be discarded after use, even if only partially used.
Interactions
It should not be used if you are taking monoamine oxidase inhibitor drugs or if less than two weeks have passed since the last administration of these medicines, as serious hypertensive crises may occur.
Side effects
Use of the product can sometimes cause pupil dilation, systemic effects from absorption (hypertension, cardiac disorders, hyperglycemia), increased intraocular pressure, nausea, and headache. Hypersensitivity reactions may rarely occur. In this case, discontinue treatment and consult your doctor so that, if necessary, appropriate therapy can be instituted. The patient is invited to report to the doctor or pharmacist any undesirable effects not described.
