Indications

Treatment of seborrheic dermatitis of the scalp.

Composition

One gram of shampoo contains 10 mg of Ciclopirox.
Sodium dodecyldi(oxyethylene) sulfate, 27% solution, disodium dodecylpoly(oxyethylene)-3-2-sulfosuccinate, 33% solution, macrogol urethral ether, sodium chloride, purified water. 27% solution composed of: sodium dodecyldi(oxyethylene) sulfate; purified water; benzoic acid (E210). 33% solution composed of: disodium dodecylpoly(oxyethylene)-3-2-sulfosuccinate; phenoxyethanol; isobutyl (4-hydroxybenzoate); butyl (4-hydroxybenzoate); purified water; methyl parahydroxybenzoate
(E218); ethyl parahydroxybenzoate (E214); propyl parahydroxybenzoate (E 216).

Directions for use and dosage

For the initial treatment of the symptoms of seborrheic dermatitis, Carediesse is applied to the scalp once or twice a week, depending on the severity, for 4 weeks. For subsequent symptom prophylaxis, treatment can be continued for another 12 weeks. Use should be limited to a maximum of 16 weeks of continuous use. Paediatric population: safety and efficacy in children have not been investigated. No data are available. Method of administration: the contents of one measuring cap (approximately 5 ml) should be applied to wet hair and scalp, rubbing until foam is formed. The foam should then be thoroughly massaged into the scalp. If hair is longer than shoulder length, use up to two measuring caps of shampoo (about 10 ml). Leave on for 3 minutes and then rinse with water.

Warnings

Patients should be instructed to avoid contact with eyes while using Carediesse. In case of accidental contact with eyes, rinse with plenty of water. This medicinal product contains parabens and their esters and may therefore cause immediate or delayed hypersensitivity reactions. Benzoic acid may cause mild irritation of the skin, eyes, and mucous membranes.
In case of irritation or sensitization after prolonged use of the product, treatment should be discontinued and other appropriate therapy should be initiated. Hair color changes have been observed, especially in patients with chemically damaged hair (e.g., caused by hair coloring) or white or gray hair.
It should not be used in case of known hypersensitivity to ciclopirox, ciclopirox olamine, parabens, or any of the excipients.

Storage

Do not store above 30 degrees C.
