Single-dose eye drops
Composition:
100 ml of solution contain: Active ingredient: Sodium cromoglicate 2 g.
Excipients
Sodium chloride (isotonizing), purified water.
Therapeutic indications
Preventive treatment of ocular allergies such as allergic conjunctivitis and vernal keratoconjunctivitis.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to sodium cromoglicate.
Dosage
Instill one or two drops of eye drops into the lower conjunctival sac of each eye 4 times a day. Whenever possible, treatment should be started before exposure to the allergic stimulus and continued regularly throughout the exposure period or until symptoms resolve.
Method of administration: Each container contains a quantity of eye drops sufficient for a single treatment of both eyes. Open the sachet. Carefully separate a single-dose container. Carefully reseal the sachet containing the remaining single-dose containers by folding back the flaps on the open side. Open the single-dose container by twisting the flat top. Instill the solution into the eyes and discard the container after use.
Warnings and precautions
Avoid touching the eye with the container nozzle. The eye drops are presented in sterile single-dose containers and contain no preservatives; therefore, they can also be used by patients who wear contact lenses. Each microvial must be discarded after use.
Interactions
There are no known interactions with other medications. In case of concomitant treatment with other eye drops, leave a 15-minute interval between instillations of the two different drugs.
Side effects
Instillation of the eye drops may sometimes cause transient local burning and/or itching.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
Administration during the first trimester of pregnancy should be limited to cases of real need. Studies conducted on animals have shown that sodium cromoglicate is rarely found in breast milk. No adverse effects on breast-fed children have been reported in the scientific literature.
