Bisolvon drops is a mucolytic drug based on bromhexine hydrochloride, which thinizes phlegm, making it easier to eliminate.
Bisolvon mucolytic drops are used in adults, adolescents, and children aged 2 years and older in acute and chronic respiratory diseases characterized by coughing and production of thick, viscous phlegm. Acting as a mucolytic, it allows the mucus to thin, promoting its elimination.
The recommended dose is as follows:
Adults and adolescents over 12 years: 8 ml 3 times a day.
Bisolvon drops in children aged 6 to 12 years: 2-4 ml 3 times a day.
Bisolvon drops for children aged 2 to 6 years: 20-40 drops 3 times a day.
To make it easier to calculate the dose, the package contains a measuring cup with markings of 1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5 - 6 ml. It is recommended to take Bisolvon after meals.
The active ingredient of Bisolvon oral solution is Bromhexine Hydrochloride 2 mg (equivalent to 1.82 mg of bromhexine in 1 ml or 15 drops). The other ingredients are: Methyl Parahydroxybenzoate, Tartaric acid, Distilled water.
Does not contain sugar
Bisolvon drops oral solution should not be taken in case of allergy to the active ingredient or to any of the excipients, during pregnancy and breastfeeding, or if the patient is a child under two years of age.
Consult your doctor or pharmacist before taking or administering Bisolvon:
- in case of a respiratory tract disease that arises and worsens over a relatively short period of time (acute respiratory conditions).
- in case of lesions of the stomach and/or intestine (gastroduodenal ulcer).
Cases of serious skin reactions associated with the administration of bromhexine hydrochloride have been reported. If a skin rash occurs (including lesions of the mucous membranes such as the mouth, throat, nose, eyes, and genitals), stop taking Bisolvon and contact your doctor immediately. These reactions may be symptoms of serious skin diseases characterized by peeling skin and a severe toxic skin reaction (Stevens-Johnson syndrome and toxic epidermal necrolysis). Most of these reactions may be due to existing serious diseases or the concomitant use of other medications. Furthermore, in the early stages of Stevens-Johnson syndrome or toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN), nonspecific flu-like symptoms may occur, such as fever, chills, runny nose (rhinitis), cough, and sore throat. Because of these misleading symptoms, symptomatic treatment with cough and cold medication may be initiated.
Treatment with Bisolvon causes increased bronchial secretions (which promotes expectoration). This medicine should not be given to children under 2 years of age as mucolytics may induce bronchial obstruction in children under 2 years of age. In fact, the ability to drain bronchial mucus is limited in this age group, due to the physiological characteristics of the airways.
This medicine should be administered to children aged between 2 and 6 years only after consulting your doctor.
It is important to inform your doctor or pharmacist if you/your child are taking, have recently taken or might take any other medicines.
If you think you may be pregnant or are planning to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
Pregnancy
As a precautionary measure, it is preferable to avoid taking Bisolvon if you are pregnant.
Breastfeeding
Do not take Bisolvon while breastfeeding.
