Composition:

Betadine 10% Vaginal Gel: 100 g gel contains: Active ingredient: Povidone-iodine (with 10% iodine) 10 g. Betadine 0.2 g Vaginal Tablets: 1 tablet of 3 g contains: Active ingredient: Povidone-iodine (with 10% iodine) 0.20 g.

Excipients

Betadine 0.2 g Vaginal Tablets: Polyethylene glycol 1000. Betadine 10% Vaginal Gel: Polyethylene glycol 400, Polyethylene glycol 4000, Polyethylene glycol 6000, Sodium hydrate, Purified water.

Therapeutic indications

Betadine 0.2 g Vaginal Tablets, Betadine 10% Vaginal Gel: Disinfection of the vaginal mucosa.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to the components. Use with caution in subjects with thyroid diseases.

Dosage

Betadine 0.2 g Vaginal Tablets: 1-2 tablets, preferably in the evening. It is recommended to moisten the tablet with a little water, insert it deeply and remain in a supine position for a few minutes. Betadine 10% Vaginal Gel: One application s.p.m. preferably in the evening before going to bed. It is recommended to insert it deeply and remain in a supine position for a few minutes. Directions for use: Screw the threaded end of the syringe onto the tube and pull the piston to the stop. Fill the syringe completely by pressing on the tube and then remove the syringe. Insert the syringe deeply into the vagina and deposit the gel in the cervical region. Remove the emptied syringe, which can be used for subsequent applications after washing. The contents of the syringe, equivalent to one dose, are 5 g of product, corresponding to 0.5 g of povidone-iodine and 50 mg of iodine.

Warnings and precautions

Do not use for prolonged treatments. After a short period of treatment without appreciable results, consult your doctor. For external use only. Use, especially if prolonged, may give rise to sensitization phenomena. In this case, discontinue treatment and adopt appropriate therapeutic measures. Discontinue treatment at least 10 days before undergoing a scintigraphy with labeled iodine. In case of prolonged use on large body surfaces, on mucous membranes, on burns, or under occlusive dressings, especially in infants and patients with thyroid disorders, perform thyroid function tests. In pediatric age, use only in cases of real need and under medical supervision. Accidental ingestion or inhalation of some disinfectants can have serious, sometimes fatal, consequences. Avoid contact with eyes.

Interactions

Avoid the simultaneous use of other antiseptics and detergents. Do not use soaps or ointments containing mercury or benzoin compounds on the treated area at the same time.

Side effects

In some cases, burning or irritation may occur; in this case, discontinue treatment. The reaction of iodine with damaged tissues can delay healing. It may cause irritation. interfere with thyroid function tests.
