Composition

100 g of gel contain: Active ingredient: Benzoyl Peroxide 5 g.

Excipients

Acryl Copolymer, Carbomer 940, Sodium C14-C16 Olefin Sulfonate, Glycerol, Sodium Hydroxide, Demineralized Water.

Therapeutic indications

Skin disinfection. It also has antiseptic properties against P. acnes.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to benzoyl peroxide or to any of the excipients.

Dosage

Apply the gel once or twice a day to the affected area. Moisten the application area. Place the required amount of BENZAC CLEAN 5% gel on your fingertips and spread it over the various skin areas with a circular motion, as if washing. Rinse and dry.

Warnings and precautions

Benzac is for external use only. The use, especially if prolonged, of products for skin use may give rise to sensitization phenomena; in this case, discontinue treatment and consult your doctor to establish appropriate therapy. Avoid contact with eyes and other mucous membranes. The oxidizing action of the gel may discolor dyed hair and colored clothing. No efficacy and safety data are available in children under 12 years of age. Do not apply to abraded or irritated skin. Avoid exposure to the sun and ultraviolet rays while applying benzoyl peroxide.

Interactions

Avoid the simultaneous use of strong detergents, alcoholic products, anti-acne skin preparations and medicines used in the treatment of acne containing substances that can increase the peeling effect, irritants or cause dryness of the skin, such as those based on tretinoin, resorcinol, salicylic acid and sulfides, medicated cosmetics.

Undesirable effects

The frequency of adverse reactions is divided into the following categories: very common (? 1/10); common (≥ 1/100, < 1/10); uncommon (≥ 1/1,000, < 1/100); rare (≥ 1/10,000, < 1/1,000); very rare (< 1/10,000); not known (frequency cannot be estimated from the available data). Adverse reactions are listed in the table below: Skin and subcutaneous tissue disorders Very common: erythema, skin exfoliation (scaling), skin burning sensation, dry skin Common: skin irritation (irritant contact dermatitis), pruritus, skin pain (pain, stinging) Uncommon: allergic contact dermatitis Cases of facial swelling and hypersensitivity reactions (frequency not known) have been reported from post-marketing surveillance data.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

There are no data in the published literature regarding the effects of benzoyl peroxide on reproductive function, fertility, teratogenicity, or peri- and postnatal development in animals. Widespread use for more than 30 years at concentrations of up to 10% benzoyl peroxide has never been associated with such effects in humans. In any case, the drug should be administered only when strictly necessary under the direct supervision of a physician. It is not known whether benzoyl peroxide is excreted in animal or human milk. Since many drugs are excreted in breast milk, caution should be exercised when benzoyl peroxide gel or lotion is used by breastfeeding women. The preparation should not be applied to the breasts to avoid accidental transfer to the infant.
