Product Description

Over-the-counter medicine suitable for muscle and joint pain.

Indications

ITALSTADIUM BALSAMIC Ointment is an over-the-counter medicine (OTC) based on Methyl Salicylate, (-)Menthol, Racemic Camphor, Chlorobutanol Hemihydrate.

Adjuvant treatment of painful conditions of muscular and joint origin (bruises, sprains, muscle tears, lumbago).

Composition

Active ingredients

100g of ointment contain:

Active ingredients: Methyl salicylate 24 g; (-)Menthol 3.75 g; Racemic Camphor 1.45 g; Chlorobutanol hemihydrate 0.02 g.

Excipients

100g of ointment contain:

Excipients: Vaseline to 100 g

Directions for use and Dosage

Two or three rubs a day. Use minimal quantities in 24 hours, never exceed quantities greater than 20 grams.

Italstadium Balm is contraindicated in children up to 3 years of age (see section 4.3).

The duration of treatment should not exceed 3 days.

Warnings

Do not use the product on sensitive or irritated areas of skin and on mucous membranes. Do not use more than 20 grams of ointment in 24 hours.
Prolonged use may cause allergic reactions. give rise to sensitization phenomena. In this case, discontinue treatment and consult your doctor.
This product contains terpene derivatives which, in excessive doses, can cause neurological disorders such as convulsions in infants and children.

Treatment should not be prolonged for more than 3 days due to the risks associated with the accumulation of terpene derivatives, such as camphor, cineole, niaouli, wild thyme, terpineol, terpin, citral, menthol and essential oils of pine needles, eucalyptus and turpentine (due to their lipophilic properties, the rate of metabolism and disposal is unknown) in the tissues and brain, particularly neuropsychological disorders.

A dose higher than the recommended one should not be used to avoid a greater risk of adverse reactions to the medicinal product and disorders associated with overdose (see section 4.9).

Since The product contains (-) menthol. Its use is not recommended in children.

The product is flammable and should not be brought close to flames.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to the active ingredients or to any of the excipients and to products related to them, such as salicylates in general.

Children under 3 years of age.

Children with a history of epilepsy or febrile convulsions.

Side effects

Contact dermatitis, irritation and allergic skin rashes are possible.

Due to the presence of camphor and menthol, and in case of non-compliance with the recommended doses, it may cause allergic reactions. There may be a risk of convulsions in children and infants.

Overdose

A possible or accidental overdose does not require an antidote or emergency medical care.

In these cases, it is advisable to consult a doctor or pharmacist. Overdose may cause skin irritation.

Incorrect use: Swallowing the ointment may cause gastrointestinal symptoms such as vomiting or diarrhea. Treatment is symptomatic.

In case of accidental oral intake or incorrect administration in infants and children, serious complications may occur. There is a risk of neurological disorders.

If necessary, administer appropriate symptomatic treatment in specialized treatment centers.

Acute intoxication has been observed after significant accidental ingestion with manifestations of nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, headache, dizziness, sensation of heat/flushing, convulsions, respiratory depression and coma.

Patients with severe gastrointestinal or neurological symptoms of poisoning should be examined and treated symptomatically. Do not induce vomiting.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

Pregnancy

There are no or limited amount of data on the use of camphor and menthol in pregnant women.

Italstadium Balsamo is not recommended during pregnancy and in women of childbearing potential who are not using contraceptive measures.

Breastfeeding

There is insufficient information on the excretion of camphor and menthol in breast milk.

Italstadium Balsamo should not be used during breastfeeding.
