Therapeutic indications
Cream, gel, and skin solution: Dermatomycoses caused by dermatophytes (e.g., trichophytes), saccharomyces (e.g., Candida), and other pathogenic fungi (e.g., Malassezia furfur). Dermatoses caused by superinfections caused by the aforementioned pathogenic fungi and by germs sensitive to Azolmen. These conditions include plantar and interdigital mycosis of the hands and feet (athlete's foot); onychomycosis, mycosis of the trunk and skin folds, pityriasis versicolor. Skin Powder: Azolmen powder is indicated for the treatment of moist mycoses of the skin and skin folds, especially if located in areas that are usually covered or poorly ventilated (for example, bandage dermatitis, interdigital mycosis), as well as an adjuvant to treatment with Azolmen cream, gel, and skin solution. Skin Foam: Azolmen foam is indicated for the treatment of pityriasis versicolor, which in its typical form manifests as scaly macules. Treatment of the entire body surface makes it possible to eliminate the pathogen not only where morphological skin changes are detectable, but also where the skin is still apparently healthy.
Contraindications
Individual hypersensitivity to the drug or to individual components.
Dosage
Unless otherwise prescribed by your doctor, Azolmen should be applied in small quantities to the infected areas with a gentle massage once a day, preferably in the evening before bed. Azolmen cream and gel are specifically indicated for the treatment of exposed skin areas. Azolmen gel, thanks to the refreshing power of its components, is particularly useful in cases where the active infection is associated with an inflammatory component with a burning and/or itching sensation. Given Azolmen's high potency, a small amount (e.g., ½ cm of cream or gel) is usually sufficient to cover a palm-sized area. Azolmen skin solution is particularly useful for treating hairy skin areas and fungal infections in skin folds, except mucous membranes. Azolmen cream, gel, and skin solution are odorless, non-staining, and easily removed with water. Controlled and sufficiently prolonged use of Azolmen is essential for complete healing. It is advisable not to interrupt the therapy immediately after the disappearance of the acute inflammatory manifestations and subjective symptoms, but to stick to the following average treatment times, depending on the type of infection, the extent and location of the infection itself: tinea pedis 3 weeks tinea corporis, tinea manuumm, tinea cruris 2-(3) weeks pityriasis versicolor 2 weeks superficial cutaneous candidiasis 2·(4) weeks The treatment times indicated in brackets refer to forms which, in the doctor's opinion, are particularly extensive or resistant. Skin powder: The affected areas of skin can be sprinkled with the powder once or more times a day, depending on the level of humidity and the location of the fungal infection. Azolmen skin powder can, upon doctor's advice, be applied as an adjuvant to the cream, gel, or skin solution (for example: powder in the morning, cream, gel, or skin solution in the evening). In cases of tinea pedis, Azolmen skin powder can also be sprinkled on shoes and socks to eliminate humidity and prevent reinfection. Skin foam: Apply the contents of one sachet to the entire damp body for three consecutive evenings after a shower, placing the product on a sponge; then rub for 3.5 minutes, do not rinse. The medicine works overnight and should be washed off the following morning. If pityriasis versicolor has not been eradicated after 15 days of treatment, repeat the treatment. To avoid relapses, it is recommended to continue treatment after 1 and 3 months.
Warnings and precautions
The use, especially if prolonged, of topical products may give rise to sensitization phenomena; in this case, it is necessary to interrupt the treatment and initiate appropriate therapy. The same procedure should be followed in the event of the development of resistant microorganisms. Do not leave medicines within the reach of children.
Interactions
No interactions of bifonazole with other drugs have been reported in the literature.
Side effects
Azolmen cream, gel, solution, powder, and foam are perfectly tolerated. Only in rare cases may a slight and mostly temporary redness of the skin occur and, more rarely, a burning sensation and irritation which usually disappear quickly.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
In pregnant women and in early childhood, the product should be used only in case of real need and under the direct supervision of a doctor.
