Product Description

Allevyn Adhesive is a highly absorbent hydrocellular polyurethane foam dressing designed for the treatment of moderately to highly exudative wounds, promoting faster healing and reducing the risk of maceration.

Indications

Allevyn Adhesive, the world's #1 foam dressing, now with enhanced performance. Allevyn Adhesive is a highly absorbent hydrocellular polyurethane foam dressing designed for the treatment of moderately to highly exudative wounds. The dressing has a unique triple-layer structure that creates the optimal wound healing environment through improved exudate management, thus reducing the risk of maceration and promoting faster healing. rapid.

Second intention treatment of acute and chronic partial, full or superficial thickness granulating and exuding lesions such as: pressure ulcers, lower limb ulcers, infected lesions, diabetic foot ulcers, tumor lesions, surgical wounds, first and second degree burns, skin harvesting wounds, pathologically hyperproliferating oncological ulcers. It can It can be used in combination with Intrasite Gel on wounds with necrosis or slough.

Benefits The unique structure of Allevyn Adhesive allows for the safe management of exuding wounds, ensuring it remains in place for up to 7 days, taking into account the wound conditions and local clinical protocols. Its ability to create and manage the ideal moist environment for healing comes from the combination of different properties:

  • Breathability: The dynamic breathability of the outer layer allows excess moisture to evaporate to the outside, and this evaporation is greater the higher the humidity inside the foam. This extends the foam's saturation times, while reducing the risk of maceration.
  • Barrier function: The external layer ensures effective isolation of the wound environment, thanks to its impermeability to bacteria and fluids and the secure fixation of the adhesive spread over the entire dressing. This prevents external contamination and exudate leaks that could cause potential damage to the endogenous tissue repair process (cross-contamination, infection, maceration).
  • Absorption: Allevyn Adhesive has a much higher absorption capacity than hydrocolloids, alginates, and hydrofibers. Its hydrocellular technology allows it to exploit the synergy between two distinct absorption mechanisms: capillary absorption and molecular absorption. The absorption process (vertical and lateral) is rapidly activated by polyethylene glycol particles. The fluid and cellular debris are absorbed into the cells (of mixed sizes and interconnected) of Allevyn Adhesive (capillary absorption), and at the same time and before the cells themselves are saturated, the passage of fluids from inside the cells to the interstitial space between one cell and another also occurs (molecular absorption). Allevyn Adhesive also maintains an excellent capacity to retain absorbed materials (exudate, cellular debris, bacteria) even under compression.
  • Atraumatic: The perforated wound contact layer prevents possible entrapment of wound bed tissue within the thickness of the foam. This feature, combined with simple deactivation upon contact with humidity, ensures optimal absorption. The hypoallergenic acrylic adhesive allows Allevyn Adhesive to be removed without causing trauma to the wound. Following the correct removal procedure prevents damage to the periwound skin caused by repeated dressing changes.
  • Beveled edges and contoured pad: The Allevyn Adhesive absorbent pad has edges of decreasing thickness, to ensure maximum conformability to the dressing. At the same time, it helps reduce the risk of accidental dressing detachment due to friction.
  • Soft and comfortable texture: The unique hydrocellular structure of Allevyn Adhesive offers effective pressure relief, which, together with the softness of the foam, guarantees mechanical protection to the wound and comfort to the patient.
  • Clinically proven: In its 17 years of existence, Allevyn has accumulated extensive clinical and in vitro evidence demonstrating its success in healing wounds of various nature, shape, and location.

Composition

Allevyn Adhesive is Consisting of:

  • An outer layer of polyurethane film, impermeable to liquids and bacteria, with dynamic breathability 2 capable of creating an impenetrable barrier to protect the wound.
  • A soft and absorbent intermediate layer of hydrocellular polyurethane foam.
  • A perforated wound contact layer, uniformly spread with hypoallergenic water-based acrylic adhesive.

Directions for use and dosage

Application
Select the most suitable dressing format. Prepare and clean the periwound skin, removing excess moisture; if necessary, use SKIN PREP wipes. Partially remove the protective backing, place the dressing on the wound and secure it by removing the remaining part of the protective backing. Adjust the dressing, ensuring that the edges adhere well to the periwound skin.

Removal
Lift a corner and remove the dressing with one hand by pulling the film tangentially and keeping the other hand on the part of the dressing still in place. Thanks to its aqueous base, the Allevyn Adhesive adhesive is easily inactivated using a gauze soaked in saline solution, water or medical solvents such as Remove™ (bottle or wipes). When dressing the sacral area, to avoid contamination, begin removal from the upper edge and move downward toward the anus.

Replacement Frequency
At the start of treatment, frequently inspect Allevyn Adhesive. The dressing may remain in place for up to 7 days depending on the wound condition and clinical protocols in use.

Warnings

Allevyn Adhesive should not be reused. Do not use Allevyn Adhesive with oxidizing agents such as hypochlorite solutions or hydrogen peroxide, as they may damage the absorbent polyurethane foam component.

Undesirable effects

As with all adhesive products, rare cases of irritation and/or maceration of the periwound skin have been reported. Cases of sensitivity to the dressing have been reported rarely. Improper use or too frequent dressing changes, particularly in patients with fragile skin, may cause irritation or small tears. If redness or sensitivity of the skin occurs, discontinue treatment and consult a doctor.
