Inspiration
Paul Gauguin's illustrated diary, entitled "Noa Noa" (fragrance in Tahitian), chronicles his relentless search for paradise lost in the idyllic lands of Tahiti. This legendary diary not only reflects the great painter's internal struggle, but also his unique vision of the lush Tahitian landscape, its people, and its rich ancestral culture.
Gauguin, tormented by the need to discover the wild, began his journey in the isolated villages of Brittany, where his first sketches began to come to life. However, this unquenchable passion eventually led him to the crystalline waters of French Polynesia, where his art was transformed and where he lived with the local tribes as one of them, revising and enriching his works.
