Indications
Kelémata Senna Leaf Herbal Tea is useful for the short-term treatment of occasional constipation.
Ingredients
One 1.3 g sachet contains
Active ingredients: Senna leaves 0.667 g; 2 g sachet: senna leaves 1.026 g.
Excipients: Couple's grass, guaiac, hyssop, pellitory of the wall, peppermint, sarsaparilla, star anise, and lemon balm.
Directions for use and Dosage
The correct dose is the minimum sufficient to produce easy evacuation of soft stools.
It is advisable to initially use the minimum recommended doses.
When necessary, the dose can be increased, but without ever exceeding the maximum indicated.
Preferably take in the evening.
Laxatives should be used as infrequently as possible and for no longer than 1 hour. seven days.
Use for longer periods of time requires a doctor's prescription after adequate evaluation of the individual case.
Ingest together with an adequate amount of water.
A diet rich in liquids favors the effect of the medicine.
Take the herbal tea prepared according to the instructions below:
- Put 1-2 1.3 g sachets of the medicine in a teacup;
- Pour boiling water over it and leave to infuse for 10-15 minutes.
Do not exceed the recommended doses.
Warnings
Abuse of laxatives can cause persistent diarrhea with consequent loss of water, mineral salts and other essential nutrients.
In the most serious cases, dehydration or hypokalemia may occur, which can lead to serious complications. This may cause cardiac or neuromuscular dysfunction, especially in case of concomitant treatment with cardiac glycosides, diuretics or corticosteroids.
Abuse of laxatives, especially contact laxatives (stimulant laxatives), can cause dependence (and, therefore, the possible need to gradually increase the dosage), chronic constipation and loss of normal intestinal functions (intestinal atony).
In children under 12 years of age, the medicine can be used only after consulting a doctor.
The treatment of chronic or recurrent constipation always requires medical intervention for diagnosis, prescription of drugs and monitoring during therapy.
Consult your doctor when the need for a laxative arises from a sudden change in previous bowel habits (frequency and characteristics of bowel movements) that lasts for more than 12 months. more than two weeks or when the use of the laxative fails to produce effects.
It is also advisable for elderly or unhealthy subjects to consult their doctor before using the medicine.
Interactions
Laxatives can reduce the residence time in the intestine, and therefore the absorption, of other drugs administered orally at the same time.
Therefore, avoid taking laxatives and other medicines at the same time: after taking a medicine, wait at least two hours before taking the laxative.
Milk or antacids can alter the effect of the medicine; wait at least one hour before taking the laxative.
Side effects
Occasionally: isolated cramping pain or abdominal colic, more severe. frequent in cases of severe constipation.
With the use of the product, urine sometimes becomes slightly yellow-brown or red.
This coloration is simply due to the presence of senna components in the urine and is not clinically significant.
Pregnancy and Breastfeeding
There are no adequate and well-controlled studies on the use of the medicine during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
Therefore, the medicine should be used only if necessary, under the direct supervision of a doctor, after evaluating the expected benefit for the mother in relation to the possible risk to the fetus or infant.
