Spot-On Antiparasitic for Cats and Rabbits weighing more than 4 kg

Characteristics

Advantage 80 is used for the prevention and treatment of flea infestations in cats and for the treatment of flea infestations in rabbits.
Fleas are killed within one day of treatment.
One treatment prevents further flea infestation for 3-4 weeks in cats and up to one week in rabbits.
In cats, the product can be used as part of a treatment strategy for the control of Flea Allergy Dermatitis (FAD), if this has been previously diagnosed.

Do not treat unweaned kittens less than 8 weeks of age.
Do not use on rabbits intended for human consumption.
Do not use on rabbits less than 10 weeks of age.
Do not use in animals with known hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the excipients.

Directions for use

Cat/rabbit b.w. < 4 kg: one pipette of Advantage 40.
Cat/rabbit b.w. > 4 kg: one pipette of Advantage 80.
Directions for administration:
Holding the pipette upright, twist and remove the cap.
Use the cap upside down to twist and remove the pipette seal.
Part the fur on the cat's neck at the base of the skull, until the skin is visible.
Place the tip of the pipette on the skin and squeeze as much of the pipette as possible. repeatedly firmly until the contents are emptied directly onto the skin.

Warnings

Re-infestation caused by the development of new fleas in the environment may continue for six weeks or more after starting treatment.
Therefore, more than one treatment may be necessary, depending on the level of fleas in the environment.
To help reduce environmental infestation, the additional use of a suitable environmental treatment against adult fleas and their developmental stages is recommended.
To further reduce environmental infestation, treatment of all dogs, cats and rabbits in the household is recommended.
Treatment of nursing cats and rabbits controls flea infestations on both the mother and her offspring.
The product remains effective even if the animal gets wet.
However, depending on the presence of fleas in the environment, further treatment may be necessary.
In such cases, do not treat more frequently than once a week.
This product is for topical use and should not be administered orally.
Apply only to intact skin.
Care should be taken to avoid the contents of the pipette coming into contact with the eyes or mouth of the treated animal.
Do not allow recently treated animals to groom each other.
Special precautions to be taken by the person administering the product to animals: Wash hands thoroughly after use.
Wash any skin contamination with soap and water.
People with known skin hypersensitivity may be particularly sensitive to this product. Avoid contact of the product with the eyes or mouth.
If the product accidentally gets into the eyes, they should be rinsed thoroughly with water.
If eye irritation persists or if the product is accidentally swallowed, seek medical advice. Do not eat, drink, or smoke during application.

Side effects

The product has a bitter taste, and salivation may occasionally occur if the animal licks the application site immediately after treatment.
This is not a sign of intoxication and disappears within a few minutes.
On very rare occasions, skin reactions such as hair loss, redness, itching, and skin lesions may occur in cats and rabbits.
Agitation, excessive salivation, and nervous signs such as incoordination, tremors, and depression have also been observed in cats, albeit in exceptional cases.
