Product Description

Preparation H for hemorrhoids is an ointment formulated with Saccharomyces cerevisiae cell extract, which acts as an antihemorrhoidal medicine.

Indications

Preparation H ointment 10.8 mg/g is used for the treatment of:

• external hemorrhoids;
• internal hemorrhoids;
• anal fissures.

Dosage and Directions for Use

The recommended dose is 2-3 applications of ointment per day.

It is advisable to apply Preparation H hemorrhoid ointment after each bowel movement.

Take the applicator with the protective cap included in the package, remove the cap, lubricate the applicator, and Screw it onto the tube. Squeeze the Preparation H tube until the applicator is full; insert it into the rectum and squeeze the tube again until a sufficient amount of product is introduced. Apply the ointment to the external area as well.

After use, clean the applicator and replace the cap.

Do not exceed the recommended dose without first consulting your doctor or pharmacist.

Preparation H during pregnancy and breastfeeding

Preparation H can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding. If you are pregnant, think you may be pregnant, or are planning to become pregnant, or are breastfeeding, it is important to consult your doctor or pharmacist before using this medicine.

Composition

Active ingredient: Saccharomyces cerevisiae cell extract. 10.8 mg/g ointment: 100 g of ointment contains 1.08 g of Saccharomyces cerevisiae cell extract.

The other ingredients are: shark liver oil, white petrolatum, light mineral oil, Argobase L2 (liquid paraffin, wool wax, petrolatum, anhydrous lanolin, ozokerite, butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT)), lanolin, glycerol, methyl-p-hydroxybenzoate, propyl-p-hydroxybenzoate, red thyme oil.

Warnings

Preparation H should not be used if you are allergic to Saccharomyces cerevisiae cell extract or any of the other ingredients of this medicine. If you experience bleeding or if you use the medicine for a long time without noticing any improvement, it is advisable to contact your doctor. Preparation H contains methyl parahydroxybenzoate and propyl parahydroxybenzoate, which may cause allergic reactions (possibly delayed). Preparation H contains lanolin, which may cause local skin reactions (e.g., contact dermatitis). Preparation H contains butylated hydroxytoluene, which may cause local skin reactions (e.g., contact dermatitis) or irritation of the eyes and mucous membranes.

Side effects

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. To date, no specific side effects have been reported with the use of Preparation H. Following the instructions in the package leaflet reduces the risk of side effects.

Storage

Do not store above 25°C. Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children. Do not use this medicine after the expiry date stated on the carton.
