Product Description

Nasal decongestant.

Indications

Nafazolina Pensa Nasal decongestant spray for acute catarrhal rhinitis and pharyngitis, allergic rhinitis, acute sinusitis.

Composition

Active ingredients

Nafazolina Nitrate 1 mg.

Excipients

Sodium chloride, disodium edetate, sodium phosphate monobasic dihydrate, concentrated phosphoric acid, benzalkonium chloride, balsamic flavoring, water for injections.

Directions for use and Dosage

Adults: 1–2 sprays in each nostril, 2–3 times a day.
Pediatric population: The medicine is contraindicated in children under 12 years of age.
Strictly adhere to the recommended doses.
A higher dosage of the product, even if taken topically and for a short period of time, can result in serious systemic effects.
If a complete therapeutic response is not achieved within a few days, consult your doctor; in any case, treatment should not be continued for more than a week.

Warnings

Use with caution in the elderly and in those with prostatic hypertrophy due to the risk of urinary retention. In patients with cardiovascular disease, especially in hypertensive patients, the use of nasal decongestants should be subject to the doctor's judgment on a case-by-case basis. Prolonged use of vasoconstrictors may cause urinary retention. alter the normal function of the nasal and paranasal sinus mucosa, also inducing addiction to the drug.
Repeated applications over a long period of time may be harmful.
Benzalkonium chloride (BAC), contained as a preservative in Nafazolina Pensa Nasal Spray, especially when used for long periods, can cause swelling of the nasal mucosa.
If such a reaction is suspected (persistent nasal congestion), a nasal medicine without BAC should be used, if possible.
If such nasal medicines without BAC are not available, another pharmaceutical form should be considered.
May cause bronchospasm.
The use, especially if prolonged, of topical products may give rise to sensitization phenomena; in this case, it is necessary to discontinue treatment and, if necessary, institute appropriate therapy.
Rare cases of posterior reversible encephalopathy/reversible cerebral vasoconstriction syndrome have been reported with the use of sympathomimetic drugs, which include naphazoline.
Symptoms reported include sudden onset of severe headache, nausea, vomiting, and visual disturbances.
Most cases improve or resolve within a few days following appropriate treatment.
The use of naphazoline should be discontinued immediately and a doctor should be consulted if signs and/or symptoms of posterior reversible encephalopathy/reversible cerebral vasoconstriction syndrome occur.

Interactions

The drug may cause serious side effects. interact with antidepressant drugs.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

During pregnancy and breastfeeding, Nafazolina Pensa Nasal Spray should be used only after consulting your doctor and evaluating the risk/benefit ratio in your case.
