Dosage
One lozenge to dissolve slowly in the mouth after meals and whenever pain is felt. If necessary, repeat after a quarter of an hour. DO NOT EXCEED THE RECOMMENDED DOSES. Use only for short periods of treatment. Patients with renal insufficiency: The reduced ability to eliminate urine and the exogenous saline supplement provided by antacids can cause potentially severe electrolyte imbalances. Treatment with magnesium and calcium salts requires periodic checks of magnesium and calcium levels.
Warnings and precautions
Plasma magnesium levels tend to increase in patients with severe renal insufficiency. In these patients, long-term exposure to high doses of magnesium may lead to encephalopathy or worsening of dialysis-induced osteomalacia. Caution should generally be exercised in patients with impaired renal function. Plasma calcium and magnesium levels should be monitored regularly in these patients. If following a low-sodium diet, it should be noted that the product contains sodium salts. The product contains sucrose; this should be taken into account in patients with diabetes. Patients with rare hereditary problems of fructose intolerance, glucose malabsorption, galactose malabsorption, sucrase insufficiency, and isomaltase insufficiency should not take this medicine.
Interactions
Please note that antacids can, through various mechanisms, interfere with the oral administration of other drugs. In particular, the concomitant administration of tetracyclines can result in insoluble complexes, reducing the absorption of these antibiotics. However, it is advisable not to administer other drugs within 1 or 2 hours of using the product. Combinations to avoid: - tetracyclines: formation of insoluble complexes with reduction of the absorption and activity of these antibiotics. Combination not recommended: - quinidine: increase in plasma levels of quinidine and risk of overdose due to decreased excretion. Combinations requiring precautions for use: - indomethacin, phosphorus, dexamethasone, digitalis, iron salts, nitrofurantoin, lincomycin.
