Composition
100 ml of solution contain: Active ingredients: Naphazoline nitrate 0.1 g, thonzylamine hydrochloride 0.1 g.
Excipients
IMIDAZYL Antihistamine 1 mg/ml + 1 mg/ml Eye drops, solution – single-dose container: sodium phosphate monobasic monohydrate, sodium chloride, sodium hydroxide 1N, purified water.
Therapeutic indications
In allergic and inflammatory conditions of the conjunctiva accompanied by photophobia, tearing, foreign body sensation, pain.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to the components of the product or other closely related substances from a chemical point of view; in particular to xylometazoline, oxymetazoline, tetryzoline. Narrow-angle glaucoma or other serious eye diseases. Contraindicated in children under 12 years of age. Generally contraindicated during pregnancy and breastfeeding (see section 4.6). Contraindicated in concomitant treatment with monoamine oxidase inhibitor drugs (see section 4.5)
Dosage
Instill 1-2 drops in the affected eye 2-3 times a day. Do not exceed the recommended dose. Strictly adhere to the recommended dose. A higher dosage of the product, even if taken topically and for a short period of time, can cause serious systemic effects.
Warnings and precautions
The product, although systemically absorbed, should be used with caution in patients with hypertension, hyperthyroidism, heart disease, and hyperglycemia (diabetes). If symptoms persist or worsen after a short period of treatment, advise the patient to consult a doctor. In any case, the product should not be used for more than 4 consecutive days, unless otherwise prescribed by a doctor, given the possibility that adverse effects may otherwise occur. Those who are hypersensitive to the preservative should use the IMIDAZYL Antihistamine 1 mg/ml + 1 mg/ml eye drops solution, a single-dose container that does not contain preservatives. Use, especially if prolonged, of topical products may cause sensitization. In this case, it is necessary to interrupt treatment and institute appropriate therapy.
Interactions
IMIDAZYL must not be used if you are taking monoamine oxidase inhibitor drugs or if less than two weeks have passed since the last administration of these medicines, as serious hypertensive crises may occur.
Undesirable effects
The use of the product can sometimes cause pupil dilation, systemic effects from absorption (hypertension, cardiac disorders, hyperglycemia), increased intraocular pressure, nausea, headache. Hypersensitivity phenomena may rarely occur. In this case, it is necessary to interrupt treatment and institute appropriate therapy.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
There are no known teratogenic and embryotoxic effects of the two components of the specialty, in topical use. However, the use of IMIDAZYL Antihistamine in pregnant and breastfeeding women requires the approval of a doctor.
