Medicines authorized by the Ministry of Health
Vaginal cream useful in the treatment of fungal infections and infections of the female genital organs.
Indications
Ideal as a cream for intimate itching, Gynocanesten Vaginal Cream is generally used in the treatment of localized symptoms affecting the vulva and vaginal region such as discharge, redness, burning when urinating, and a feeling of swelling of the vaginal mucosa.
The drug works thanks to its active ingredient, clotrimazole concentrated at 2%, a gynecological antifungal that inhibits the growth of fungi and yeasts in the female genital tract and eliminates those present, proving useful in fighting infections, such as balanitis from candida or vulvitis.
Composition
Gynocanesten Cream contains:
- Active ingredient: clotrimazole 100 mg
- Excipients: Sorbitan stearate, polysorbate 60, cetyl palmitate, cetostearyl alcohol, octyldodecanol, benzyl alcohol, purified water.
Directions for use and dosage
Gynocanesten comes in the form of a cream, with disposable internal applicators, making it easy to use and avoid discomfort.
Gynocanesten Cream should be inserted as deeply as possible into the vagina in the evening. To do this, the patient should be in a supine position with her legs slightly bent. Treatment should be started and completed appropriately between menstrual periods. It is recommended to perform the treatment for 3 consecutive days and repeat it, if necessary, for another 3 days.
The applicator should be used only once and then discarded to avoid possible reinfection. First, remove the plunger from the disposable applicator until it stops; open the tube; insert the disposable applicator into the tube and hold it firmly; fill the applicator by carefully pressing the tube; remove the disposable applicator, insert it deeply into the vagina (it is advisable to lie down) and empty it by regularly and continuously pressing the plunger; remove the applicator and then discard it.
Furthermore, it is recommended to apply the cream externally, on the perineal area up to the anal region. This is done by applying a thin layer of cream to the area 2-3 times a day and massaging it in gently.
To avoid reinfection, particularly in the presence of vulvitis or balanitis caused by candida, the partner should also be treated locally at the same time, on the glans penis and foreskin.
If necessary, repeat the treatment. If symptoms recur within 2 months, consult your doctor.
Warnings
While using Gynocanesten, it is important not to use tampons, vaginal douches, or spermicides, and to abstain from sexual intercourse, to avoid the transmission of fungi and other sexually transmitted diseases to men. Furthermore, the use of this cream may reduce the effectiveness of latex contraceptives, such as condoms or diaphragms. The effect is temporary and occurs only during treatment.
Special Warnings
If the patient experiences fever (38 degrees C or higher), lower abdominal pain, back pain, foul-smelling vaginal discharge, nausea, vaginal bleeding, and/or shoulder pain, she should consult a doctor. The use of topical products, especially if prolonged, may cause sensitization. In this case, discontinue treatment and take appropriate therapeutic measures. Avoid contact with eyes. Do not ingest. The cream contains cetostearyl alcohol: it may cause local skin reactions (e.g., contact dermatitis).
Gynocanesten Pregnancy
As a precaution, it is advisable to avoid the use of clotrimazole during the first trimester of pregnancy. During pregnancy, treatment should be administered with vaginal tablets, as they can be used without the applicator.
Breastfeeding
Available pharmacodynamic/toxicological data in animals have demonstrated the secretion of clotrimazole/metabolites in milk. Breastfeeding should be discontinued during treatment with clotrimazole.
