Fexallegra 120 mg for the treatment of allergic rhinitis 10 coated tablets

Product Description

Drug useful for the treatment of symptoms of allergic rhinitis.

Indications

Fexallegra 120 mg is a drug based on Fexofenadine hydrochloride that can be taken by adults and adolescents aged 12 years and over for the treatment of symptoms related to seasonal allergic rhinitis. In particular, the antihistamine Fexallegra acts on symptoms such as: 

• sneezing;
• burning, watery and red eyes;
• irritation of the nasal mucosa;
• itchy nose;
• stuffy nose;
• runny nose.

Composition

Fexallegra contains the active ingredient Fexofenadine hydrochloride: each film-coated tablet contains 120 mg.

The other ingredients are:
tablet core: microcrystalline cellulose, pregelatinized maize starch, croscarmellose sodium, magnesium stearate;
Film coating: hypromellose, povidone K30, titanium dioxide (E171), colloidal anhydrous silica, macrogol 400, red iron oxide (E172) and yellow iron oxide (E172).

Dosage and Directions for Use

Adults and adolescents aged 12 years and over can take 1 Fexallegra tablet once a day. It is recommended to take the medicine before main meals and with a glass of water.

Warnings

Fexallegra tablets should not be taken in case of allergy to fexofenadine hydrochloride or to any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this antihistamine medicine if it is to be given to an elderly person or in case of:

- liver or kidney problems; in particular if you suffer from severe kidney problems (severe renal failure);
- heart or blood circulation problems, as this type of medicine can cause a rapid or irregular heartbeat;
- pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Children under 12 years of age should not take this medicine.

Interactions

Inform your doctor or pharmacist before taking this medicine if you are taking, have recently taken or might take any other medicines, even those obtained without a prescription. Medicines containing aluminum and magnesium used to combat excessive stomach acid (antacids) may reduce the effect of Fexallegra by reducing the amount of medicine absorbed. It is recommended to observe an interval of approximately 2 hours between taking Fexallegra and this class of medicines. An increase in the absorption of Fexallegra has been shown when administered simultaneously with erythromycin (an antibiotic) and ketoconazole (a medicine used to treat fungal infections).

Side effects

Like all medicines, this antihistamine medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
Inform your doctor immediately and stop taking Fexallegra if you experience: swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat and difficulty breathing, as this may cause side effects. These signs may be indicative of a serious allergic reaction.

The following side effects have been reported in clinical studies in adults and with a frequency similar to that observed in patients who did not receive the drug (placebo):

Common (may affect up to 1 in 10 people): headache, drowsiness, feeling sick (nausea), dizziness.
Uncommon (may affect up to 1 in 100 people): tiredness.
Frequency not known (frequency cannot be estimated from the available data): difficulty falling asleep (insomnia), sleep disturbances, nightmares, nervousness, rapid or irregular heartbeat, diarrhoea, skin abnormalities (rash), even with small bumps and itching (hives), serious allergic reactions that may cause swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat and difficulty breathing.
