What is Daflon 500 used for? It is a useful drug for venous insufficiency and capillary fragility.
Indications
What is Daflon 500 used for? This tablet medication is useful for reducing venous stasis, normalizing capillary permeability, and improving capillary resistance. It is therefore possible to use Daflon 500 for bleeding hemorrhoids and in cases of venous insufficiency.
Thanks to the presence of flavonoids, this medication improves blood and lymphatic microcirculation and protects and strengthens the venous walls.
Daflon 500: Dosage and Directions for Use
Daflon 500 tablets can be taken twice a day, during main meals.
Composition
Each tablet contains:
Active ingredient
Micronized purified flavonoid fraction 500 mg consisting of diosmin 450 mg, flavonoids expressed as hesperidin 50 mg.
Excipients
Sodium starch glycolate; microcrystalline cellulose; gelatin; glycerin; hypromellose; sodium lauryl sulfate; yellow iron oxide E172; red iron oxide E172; titanium dioxide; macrogol 6000; magnesium stearate; talc.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the excipients.
Daflon 500 during pregnancy and breastfeeding
Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking any medicine. The safety of this medicine during pregnancy has not been established; therefore, it is advisable not to administer the product during pregnancy. In the absence of data on excretion in milk, treatment should be avoided during breastfeeding.
Precautions for use
Inform your doctor or pharmacist if you have recently taken any other medicines, even those obtained without a prescription.
Side effects
Like all medicines, Daflon 500 can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. The frequency of possible adverse reactions listed below is described using the following convention:
very common (occurs in more than 1 in 10 patients);
common (occurs in 1 to 10 patients in 100);
uncommon (occurs in 1 to 10 patients in 1,000);
rare (occurs in 1 to 10 patients in 10,000);
very rare (occurs in less than 1 in 10,000 patients);
not known (frequency cannot be estimated from the available data).
Side effects include:
Nervous system disorders
Rare: dizziness, headache, malaise.
Gastrointestinal disorders
Common: diarrhoea, dyspepsia, nausea, vomiting.
Uncommon: colitis.
Not known: abdominal pain.
Skin and subcutaneous tissue disorders
Rare: rash, pruritus, urticaria.
Not known: oedema of the face, lips, and eyelid (swelling); Quincke's edema (rapid swelling of the face, lips, mouth, tongue, or throat that can lead to difficulty breathing).
Blood and lymphatic system disorders
Not known: thrombocytopenia.
Following the instructions in the package leaflet reduces the risk of side effects.
