Indications

Codex 5 billion is useful for the prophylaxis and treatment of intestinal dysbiosis and related diarrheal syndromes.

Composition

Active ingredient: Each capsule contains Saccharomyces boulardii 5 billion live germs (in the form of 250 mg of lyophilized powder). Excipients: Each capsule contains lactose, magnesium stearate, gelatin, and titanium dioxide.

Directions for use and Dosage

Adults: 1–2 capsules 2 times a day. Unless otherwise prescribed by your doctor. It is recommended to take Codex at regular intervals, preferably on an empty stomach or at least 15 minutes before meals. During antibiotic therapy, administer Codex simultaneously with these.

Warnings

Do not mix Codex with excessively hot liquids or alcoholic solutions. Given the fungal nature of Saccharomyces boulardii, Codex should not be administered during topical or systemic antifungal therapy. General information - Treatment of diarrhea is not a substitute for rehydration, when necessary. The amount of rehydration and its administration route must be commensurate with the severity of the diarrhea and the age and health of the patient. - As with all medicinal products based on living microorganisms, particular care must be taken when handling the product in the presence of patients with a central venous catheter to avoid any contamination by the hands and/or the spread of spores through the air. In fact, in patients with a central venous catheter, even if not treated with Saccharomyces boulardii, very rare cases of fungemia (spread of yeast in the blood) have been reported, which very often manifests itself with pyrexia and positive blood cultures for Saccharomyces strains. All these cases resolved favorably following treatment with antifungals and, where necessary, removal of the catheter. Important information about some of the excipients Codex 5 billion hard capsules – contains lactose and is therefore not suitable for patients with rare hereditary problems of galactose intolerance, the Lapp lactase deficiency, or glucose-galactose malabsorption. – does not contain gluten.
