Indications

Canesten Spray for the treatment of mycoses (fungi) of the skin and skin folds, such as pityriasis versicolor, cutaneous candidiasis, tinea pedis or athlete's foot, tinea corporis.

Ingredients

ACTIVE INGREDIENTS
Clotrimazole

EXCIPIENTS
1% cream: sorbitan stearate, polysorbate 60, cetyl palmitate, cetostearyl alcohol, octyldodecanol, benzyl alcohol, purified water. Skin spray, solution in a 1% nebulizer can: macrogol, isopropanol, isopropyl myristate. Skin spray, solution in a multi-dose container with a 1% dosing pump: macrogol 400, isopropanol, propylene glycol. Skin powder 1%: rice starch.

Directions for use and dosage

The cream should be applied in small quantities 2-3 times a day to the affected area, rubbing lightly, after having washed and dried the area thoroughly. Half a cm of cream is sufficient to treat an area the size of a hand. The cream is ideal for the treatment of hairless skin areas. The skin spray solution is useful for the treatment of hairy skin areas and skin folds. It is also suitable for application to large areas of the body (back, abdomen, chest). The skin spray solution should be sprayed evenly on the area to be treated twice a day. Skin powder: Apply 2-3 times a day, after thoroughly washing and drying the affected area. For athlete's foot, it is recommended to also sprinkle the inside of socks and shoes with the powder. Generally, a continuous treatment period of three to four weeks is sufficient for the symptoms to disappear. To consolidate the therapeutic results obtained and avoid reinfections, it is advisable to continue therapy with the medicine for at least two weeks after the symptoms have disappeared.

Warnings

ADVERSE EFFECTS
The following adverse reactions have been identified after the approval of clotrimazole. Since these reactions derive from spontaneous reports from a population of uncertain size, it is not always possible to determine their frequency. Immune system disorders: allergic reaction (syncope, hypotension, dyspnea, urticaria). Skin and subcutaneous tissue disorders: blisters, discomfort/pain, edema, erythema, irritation, desquamation, pruritus, rash, burning.

PREGNANCY AND BREASTFEEDING

No studies have been conducted in humans on the effects of clotrimazole on fertility; however, animal studies have not shown any effects of the drug on fertility. There are limited data on the use of clotrimazole during pregnancy. Animal studies do not indicate direct or indirect harmful effects with respect to reproductive toxicity. As a precautionary measure, the use of clotrimazole should be avoided during the first trimester of pregnancy. Available pharmacodynamic/toxicological data in animals have shown the secretion of clotrimazole/metabolites in milk. Breastfeeding should be discontinued during treatment with clotrimazole. Contains no gluten.
