Product Description

Well-tolerated drug and suitable for treating numerous gastric disorders. Furthermore, it is not contraindicated for subjects suffering from celiac disease.

Indications

Biochetasi is indicated in case of:

• Excessive acidity in the stomach (gastric hyperacidity);
• Difficult digestion;
• Liver failure;
• Conditions in which there is an excess of ketone bodies (substances derived
  from fat metabolism) in the blood (ketonemic states);
• Nausea during pregnancy.

Composition

Active ingredients

The active ingredients are: sodium citrate, potassium citrate, thiamine diphosphate free ester, monosodium riboflavin 5-monophosphate, vitamin B; hydrochloride, citric acid.

Excipients

malic acid, sorbitol, tartaric acid, sodium bicarbonate, polyvinylpyrrolidone, orange flavoring, saccharin, sodium edetate, propyl gallate, sucrose, fructose, glucose.

How to use and Dosage

Always take this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. If you are not sure, check with your doctor or pharmacist.

Adults and children over 12 years of age

The recommended dose is 2 sachets of effervescent granules, 3 times a day. The effervescent granules sachets must be dissolved in half a glass of water.

Use in children under 12 years

The recommended dose in children under 12 years is 1 effervescent granules sachet, 3 times a day.

Warnings

Do not exceed the recommended doses and use Biochetasi only for short periods of treatment.

Contact your doctor if you do not feel better or if you feel worse after a short period of treatment, if the disorder occurs repeatedly or if you notice any recent change in its characteristics.

If you forget to take Biochetasi

Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose.

If you stop taking Biochetasi

If you have any further questions on the use of this medicine, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

Contraindications

Do not take Biochetasi if you are allergic to the active ingredients, to very similar substances from a chemical point of view or to any of the other ingredients of this medicine.

Relevant components

Biochetasi effervescent granules contain sorbitol, glucose, sucrose, sodium and fructose

Biochetasi effervescent granules contain 125 mg of sorbitol and 650 mg of fructose. Sorbitol is a source of fructose. If your doctor has told you that you (or your child) are intolerant to some sugars, or if you have been diagnosed with hereditary fructose intolerance, a rare genetic disease in which patients cannot break down fructose, talk to your doctor before you (or your child) take this medicine.

If your doctor has diagnosed an intolerance to some sugars, contact your doctor before taking this medicine.

Biochetasi effervescent granules contain glucose, sucrose, and fructose; it may be harmful to teeth.

This medicine contains approximately 1.7 g of sucrose and 1.4 g of glucose per dose (sachet). To be taken into consideration by people with diabetes mellitus.

This medicine contains 6.2 mmol (or 142 mg) sodium (main component of table salt) per sachet. This is equivalent to 7.1% of the maximum recommended daily dietary intake for an adult.

Interactions

Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are using, have recently used or might use any other medicines. Tell your doctor if you are taking: propantheline bromide (a medicine used for abdominal pain); levodopa (a medicine used to treat Parkinson's disease); antacids (medicines used to treat stomach problems).

Side effects

Frequency not known (frequency cannot be estimated from the available data): Hives, nausea, rash, swelling of the lips (lip oedema), excretion of colored urine (chromaturia).

Overdose

If you accidentally ingest too much Biochetasi, tell your doctor immediately or go to the nearest hospital.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor for advice before taking this medicine.

Biochetasi can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Driving and using machines

Biochetasi does not affect the ability to drive or use machines.

Storage

Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children.

Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the carton after "Expiry". The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.

Do not throw away any medicines via wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to throw away medicines you no longer use. These measures will help protect the environment.
